Topic: I Just Started a Salamander Army! =)

My brother just gave me some of his Space Marines so I could start an army. It is very tiny, but I have plan for it (I think). Here is what I have so far:

HQ[/u]
Chaplain Xavier (I bought)

TROOPS[/u]
Tactical Squad (gave to me)
Sergeant-bolt pistol and ccw
4 Marines w/ boltguns
1 Marine w/ lascannon

What should I add? I know I need another Tactical squad and some more HQ, but what else? Thanks in advance!!

scouts are all ways good

heres a basic force

captain
2 tactical squads
1 assault squad
1 devesator squad
1/2 scout squads

this will give you a good core to expand your army as you become more experinced

I would recommend a Rhino and a Predator just so you've got some armour.

Predator Annhilators will draw a lot of fire if they are equipped with all Lascannons.  My friend also swears by scouts.  I think they are good for there...(drumroll!) Sniper Rifles.  It's good you got a Chaplain, as they are superb

Don't use devastators in small battles.  so expensive; each one that dies is 30+ points down the drain.  try support-configured tacs with razorbacks.  an assault squad, some scouts- it's all good.  a bike HQ with meltabombs& good htH is always tricky.  watch out in htH with normal guys: salamanders are slow.  go with power fists, and soften them up with those flamers.
