Do you mean Striking Scorpions or Scorpion Super Heavy Grav Tanks :P?  I guess from the context that you mean the former.  I was not even aware that there were new models and they are not part of the Eldar range on GW's website, so I had to do some research to find them.  They are an improvement on the previous sculpts, but they still cannot beat Jes Goodwin's original design.

Yes striking scorpions. Agreed but way better then the last sculpts. They have some fiddley bits when building but way better. My favorite part is the helmet, it has a predators feel to it.

Jes' sculpts are just apex, no need to really re-do them, but just modernize the original aesthetic and concept. I also love the new striking scorpions (favorite aspect shrine). I have twenty of these bad boys and ladies on the way!

The Striking Scorpions have aged very gracefully, moreso than some other Aspect models (though I suppose Warp Spiders are even older?? Not sure).

The new models are very similar, which is good, just refined a little for how the sense of scale has changed in 40k since then. No need to mess with a really solid concept.

Warp Spiders are still the static 2nd edition models.  The most they've had for an update was moving from pewter to finecast.

Oh yeah, Warp Spiders are the ancient ones. I was perhaps thinking about the Fire Dragons which are also ageing, iirc.

It's honestly really weird how haphazard the Eldar range is, considering that it's basically one of the core 40k factions, and virtually ALL its units are "iconic" in the sense that they inhabit distinct visual design niches and gameplay tactical niches. It's not like one of the Eldar units is another rando Space Marine Captain with a slightly different loadout or a IG tank with an incredibly questionably useability.

The current sculpts for Fire Dragons and Striking Scorpions are from the range refresh that happened in 4th edition.  The Swooping Hawks are 3rd edition, and the Warp Spiders are still 2nd.

There might have been a time when Eldar were considered a core faction, but as the Imperium forces have been expanded beyond just Marines and Guard, that day is long gone.  The issue with Eldar is that they are difficult to play properly, so they are not really that well suited for new players.  What that translates to is that they are purchased less; and less purchasing means less overall support.  The model range is still fantastic across the board, even the older models.  I mean, aside from being completely static, the Warp Spiders are fantastic models.
