Blood Angel characters and successors
« on: December 12, 2019, 04:23:54 PM »
If I'm looking at the word-maths correctly named characters (Meph, Lemartes, Astorath) can not apply their litanies/powers to successors (Flesh Tearers) since it seems they can not share the same keyword? Unless I missed a modifying statement somewhere?

That is (technically) correct.  If you run an army as the Flesh Tearers, and use any applicable rules for them (such as their Chapter Master), then you can not include any Blood Angel specific characters.

That being said... if you play Blood Angels who just so happen to be painted as Flesh Tearers, then there isn't any issue as long as you do not include any Flesh Tearer rules.

The one exception to this is if you play at major GW location like Warhammer World.  My understanding is that they apply WYSIWYG to your paint scheme as well.
If there is anything that recent politics has taught us, it is that quotes taken out of context can mean what ever you want them to.

That's the issue. I want the actual FT bonus but have Lemartes and/or Astorath. Oh well.

You could always run them as two detachments.  Flesh Tearers as your main, and the characters you want as a Blood Angel Supreme Command Detachment.

Why? Their abilities still wouldn't apply to the rest of my units. So no point.
