1000 points of WH, looking for input
« on: October 23, 2007, 03:59:42 PM »
I want to thank everyone who gave me there input in my last list  ;D So i've thought alot about what everyone said and heres my new list.

Inquisitor Lord:
 Power weapon:
 Inferno pistol:
 Liber Heresius:
 Psychic power (Hiswill be done):
Total:

Henchman's-
2 Warriors (crusaders):
Familiar:
Total: 46pts

Rhino transport:
 Smoke launcher:
Total: 53pts

2 Exorcist: 270pts

Orbital Strike (Lance strike): 70pts

9 Stormtroopers: 90pts
 2 melta guns:
Chimera: 70pts
 Turret Hvy bolter:
 Hull Hvy bolter:
Total: 195pts

9 Stormtroopers: 90pts
 2 Plasma guns:
Total: 110pts

9 Stormtroopers: 90pts
 2 Grenade Launchers:
Total: 110pts

Grand total: 949pts leaving me 51pts to spend  :(

I know alot of people will tell me to remove the Lance stirke but hear me out. I'm taking the Lance strike as a fear tactic to have my opponents not deploy anything within 12" of the terrain I mark also to work in  combination of the Liber Heresius  so I can have the table in my favor and make certain cover not look so appealing with Lance stirke  ;D

Thank you everyone for your input and please help figure out what to do with these extra 51pts  ???

Edit: Please do not write individual point costs for weapons/models

The Exorcists are a great unit - you probably wont get a better unit at what they do in the entire Codex or many others for that matter - but they simply dont fit into the theme of your army.

Your army is 75% Inquisitorial with the Exorcists thrown in - I would guess because they are an effective unit that tackles the tricky issue of how to fit long range firepower into a witchhunters list, not because they fit a particular theme or idea.

If youre gonna have Exorcists, for the sake of fluff I would include a couple of SOB units. Personally I'm of the opinion that youre either an SOB player or an Inquisitorial player and that you should try to be something inbetween - just my opinion though.

In general tactcis i would give the melta stormies a Rhino instead of a chimera - its cheaper and you can move 12" without worrying about all those weapons you wont be able to fire.

NEVER give your Storm Troops Grenade Launchers! Its a scandle that they cost the same as the much more effective plasma gun. Get two more Plasmas.

thing about your lance strike tactic is that your opponant shouldnt know where its going to land until it arrives from reserve - therefore he will not know which piece of terrain you have targeted it to and so will not know to keep his troops away from it - hence it should not really effect his deployment.

I'd get rid of the lance strike simply because its a silly non-visual cop out by GW and a cheap way to fill a heavy support option for the codex without actually having a nice looking model to represent it. they suck for this reason more than any other.

I wouldn't sweat the Exos. I'd use Chimerae as a base for them and just think of them as "stormtrooper missile tanks." :P The funny thing is that the CHimera chassis actually makes a lot more sense for the Exo AV-wise.

Concur with Lt.Witham on the plasma. Grenade launchers simply suck.

If you want to use the lance strike, go ahead, though it's not exactly the most effective thing every invented. I definitely hear Lt.W on the modelling cop-out thing, though. I'd probably make some kind of fancy marker to place on the point targetted.

Alright well after reading you're thoughts this is what I've changed to my list:

Removed the Orbital Strike
Removed the Third Stormtrooper squad w/ grenade launchers
Changes the Chimera to Rhino w/ smoke launcher in the first stormtrooper squad
And Added:
10 Sisters of Battle w/ 2 Storm bolters: 120pts

That leaves me with 130pts to spend

For the remaining points I was thinking of adding my old friend Sixtus "I am Markos Felix Sixtus Imperius Segundus, imperial inquisitor."  ;D Thanks Ailaros for my Inquisitor name.

Malleus Inquisitor Lord:
 Daemon hammer:
 Storm shield:
 Terminator armour:
Henchmen:
2 Warriors (Veteran Guard w/ CC weapon and hell pistol):
and of course his trusted familiar (kitty kitty  ;D):
Total: 131pts

I know he wouldn't be super useful but he'll help back up my other Inquisitor lord when I have to verse my friends BA army AGAIN... :( plus it would put a smile back on my face and all the veteran players in my area that my Inquisitor is back and looking for blood!  :D

Edit: Please do not post individual points for weapons/upgrades/etc, only total costs

If youre gonna include a second Inquisitor my recommendation would be to make him a shooty one - 3 x Heavy Bolter Servitors, 3 x Familiars for ablative wounds, a sage and perhaps a psycannon for the inquisitor.

Close combat Inquisitors are fun but ultimately not as good as the specialised close combat troops of other races. When I use one i like to give him Divine Pronouncement and use it from the top hatch of my Rhino to scare enemy troops away. Move 12" on turn 1, pop smoke and let rip with this 18" ability from the top hatch. Of course it doesnt work great against units with Ld9 or above or against mobbed up Orks and the like.
