Custom Color Scheme
« on: February 9, 2003, 05:34:13 PM »
I just finished painting an eldar army, but I am uncertain of 1 thing.  I wanted my army to look original so I painted them an Iceworld scheme.  My friend is trying to tell me that I can't use special rules such as the Beil Tan or Ulthwe rules unless my army is painted to look like them.  Is this true?

Welcome to EldarOnline!

That is in no way true. I know someone that painted their army black and purple and is using the Beil-tan rules. Just tell them that you made your own Craftworld and they use the same rules as Beil-tan.

1.  Take Codex: Craftworld Eldar to your next game with this friend (you should always have the proper rules books with you to begin with).

2.  Recite chapter and verse of "The Army List Variations" on page 2 of the aforementioned rule book.

3.  Tell your friend to lighted up.  You paid for these miniatures and you can paint them anyway you want to.

And if you feel the need, rub it in his face, ever chance you get.  ;)

Lol, think he might be jealous of your creative colors or either he's trying to nerf your army. So you should either start giving free painting tips or simply kick him where it hurts for inventing rules he don't know squat about.

I'm really not trying to be rude, but has to be one of the most rediculous things I have ever heard.  Has he even been to a tournament?  The only restriction I have ever heard of is that the models must be painted.  How you choose to paint them is entirely up to you and has no game effect at all (Red Paint Job for Ork Speed Freaks being an exception).

the only painting restrictions i have ever heard is basically having three colors on a model... besides that, you can paint your models any color and use and applicable rules.

if you must... just say you use a varient craftworld..w ith teh same rules, but differnet color.   maybe you are jsut an iceworld detahcment. maybe you are a special trained unit... for example a jetbike unit in ulthwe colors could be jsut a small jetbike ulthwe force that uses the siam-hamm rules...

same w/ the catachen rules for IG... and all the SMurf chapters.

for exmaple... i USUALY play ulthwe.  my seers wear blue red and yelow, with black highlights, my tanks and guns are yellow and red... and my guardains are a variant of the iyanden color... and it's totaly legal  ;D

hmm... i can think of one example though... "red paint job" for the orcs ;D

I think you mean "accents" and not "highlights"

(Red Paint Job for Ork Speed Freaks being an exception).

No way...A particular list of Orks could be either (a) color blind or more likely (b) ignorant as to what color red really is.

Of course you might want to mention that to your opponent if you decide to do that at the outset. I don't have an Ork codex and my BBB is at my friends house so if I stepped on a rule that I know nothing about then I digress.

So you mean I must paint my units with over 3 colours or with less than 3 colours?
God Bless =)

Hey, I am in the "prosses" of painting my models **chuckles** but on point here I use mostly Imperial Purple, Yellow and Midnight Blue. I'm also in the prosses of choosing a craftworld and wow, what to choose, what to choose... ;D
Aw man I, it's raining outside! Well, I guess I'll just have to paint my warhammer ::)
Ever notice how you always have more unpainted models then painted? funny how that works... Pucker up and kiss it Power Gamers!
