How to fill out this List
« on: December 28, 2017, 07:42:37 PM »
So the Saim-Hann Skyrunner Autarch with the Nova Lance is a beast.
Ive yet to see him not get his points back in a game and then some.

So far the best game was over 400+ points of Ork Characters.

With that said I would like to build a list that has 10 CPs minimum.

I need 2 Battalion lists to go with this:

Wild Rider Detachment +1 CP

Keeping the Theme with this detachment as and Exodite force.

HQ Autarch Skyrunner  108
Nova Lance (Laser Lance/Twin Linked Shuriken Catapult)

FA 5 Exodite Dragon Knights (Shining Spears+Exarch) 157
Star Lance for Dragon Lord and 4 Knights with Laser Lance

FA 3 Exodite Scout Walkers (Squadron of Vypers) 210
All armed with dual Shuriken Cannons

FA 5 Wind Riders 130
Twin Linked Shuriken Catapults x2 Scatter Laser x3

Total Points: 605

That leaves me with 1395 for 2 Battalions of Field Craft Eldar (Alaitoc)

I prefer that my Warlord would be an HQ from the Battalion as all these units are in the opponents face and probably wont survive the battle.

I think the Exodite Scout Walkers (vypers) will start in the WebWay with another unit perhaps? A lot of cps to do that though. Optionally they can start hidden in some sort of Cover or even go with Cloud Strike as they are a Vehicle with Fly unit.

The HQ and Dragon Knights will charge first turn. The Wind Riders have 2 bikes as ablative models for the 3 scat bikes.

Any thoughts are very welcome.

That is very specific, but how about:
Illic Nightspear
Farseer (skyrunner?)
5x Rangers
5x Rangers
5x Rangers

Warlock
Warlock
5x Rangers
5x Rangers
5x Rangers

That's another 610p

You could take 3 Wave serpents(with vectored engines) in order to get fewer drops or you can take an air wing with Hemlock(s) and Hunter(s)?

BTW wouldn't a banshee mask suit your autarch?
You could actually give him a reaper launcher to snipe characters with, as well, if you want to get really cheesy, but then you might want to take some other troop options, because your opponents may run out of characters a bit too fast otherwise.

Weeellll 3 Detachments are usually the max in a normal setting so the AirWing idea wont work with those 2 Battalions.

I don't have to take an Outrider detachment. I could go with an Auxillary detachment, Patrol or even Supreme Command to get the Saim Hann Autarch Skyrunner.  I just haven't found a good set up yet and still have about 10 CP.

For me the best part of Eldar Craftworld are the Strategems. To get the most Stratagems with a Brigade or Battalions usually requires playing a tactic or units that are not very appealing.

A list with the most appealing units/tactics seem to generate the least CPs.  Thus the condundrum I'm faced.

I think I have a great start with the Outrider detachment to take out infantry and a tank/monster or character or 2.

What the list seems to be missing is anti tank/monster.

An AirWing would work nicely but then I'm down to 8 CPs.

I really like the WraithGuard and/or Defender Guardian Webway Assault.  However both units cost too much in the CP pool.

Without a pure assault force, it seems that I need a gunline.  If I go the former, I think I need several Wave Serpents which really taxes my model count.

If I go Footdar then I'm left with not much anti tank.

A gunline needs to have teeth and bubblewrap and a counter CC aspect.

Perhaps an Mech Eldar list with 3 Heavy Tanks and 3 Wave serpents and just make it a mobile gunline of sorts.  Ive never played that way and am unfamiliar with how the enemy will attack it and thus how I should counter deploy/react to that situation.

I see how about doing something like this:
Saim-Hann Battalion
HQ Warlock Skyrunner 65p [Enhance/drain]
HQ Autarch Skyrunner  108
Nova Lance (Banshee mask & Laser Lance/Twin Linked Shuriken Catapult)

T 8x Storm Guardians 64p
6x chainswords, 2x powerswords.
T 8x Storm Guardians 64p
6x chainswords, 2x powerswords.
T 8x Storm Guardians 64p
6x chainswords, 2x powerswords.

FA 5 Exodite Dragon Knights (Shining Spears+Exarch) 157
Star Lance for Dragon Lord and 4 Knights with Laser Lance
FA 3 Exodite Scout Walkers (Squadron of Vypers) 210
All armed with dual Shuriken Cannons
FA 5 Wind Riders 130
Twin Linked Shuriken Catapults x2 Scatter Laser x3

862p

Alaitoc airwing

2x C.Hunters 360p
Hemlock 210p [Horrify]

570p

then you can add either

Alaitoc battalion
HQ Illic Nightspear 80p
HQ Farseer 100p

T 5 Rangers 60p
T 5 Rangers 60p
T 5 Rangers 60p

for +360p giving a total of 1792p

or you could use

Ulthwé battalion
HQ Eldrad Ulthran 150p [doom, guide, mind war]
HQ 2 Warlocks in conclave 60p [quicken/restrain, protect/jinx]

T 20 Guardians with 2 shuriken cannons 190p (webway strike stratagem)
T ?
T ?

for +400p +T for 1832p +T
Ego in propria persona, non compos mentis.

So Ive been thinking and decided to tone down the Outrider list at least in points.

Wild Rider Outrider detachment
HQ Autarch Skyrunner with Nova Lance
3 Dragon Riders with Star Lance
3 Dragon Riders with Star Lance
6 Swooping Hawks

I think that is 379 points.  Ill just keep both exodite units together and try to have them act as one unit tactically.

Field Craft Battalion (Alaitoc)
HQ Farseer
HQ Conclave
T 18 Defender Guardians + 1 Shur Platform
T 5 Rangers
T 5 Rangers
Hvy 1 D-cannon Battery
Hvy 1 WraithLord with ghostglaive Bright Lance
Hvy  Wraithlord with flamer EML

Field Craft Battalion #2 (alaitoc)
HQ Warlock w singing spear
HQ SpiritSear
T 5 Dire Avengers
T 5 Dire Avengers
T 12 Storm Guardians
Hvy 5 Dark Reapers EML
Hvy 5 Dark Reapers Shuriken Cannon (ablative wound model basically)
Wave Serpent with vectored engines and triple cannons + ctm
Wave serpent with bright lances spirit stones

Plan on using the the Wave Serpents as LOS blocking to protect the reapers somewhat.
Start with 14 drops so will go last. Fill the WS and then Webway Guardians, rangers and hawks in reserves.

Bubble wrap the big guns with Rangers and Dire Avengers. Let the Wraithlords and storm guardians defend vs alpha strikers

2000 points and 10 CPs

Again not really sure I like this.

The wave serpent with triple shuriken cannons doesn't need a CTM. They're assault weapons. Put Spirit stones on it instead or put the CTM on the Serpent that has the bright lances. Copy/paste error?

I'm not sure single heavy weapons on the wraithlords are worth it unless you don't plan on moving them much. Even then, it's more cost effective to take warwalkers with two guns.

It's a shame to take 18 guardians and only one platform. I would take a full 20 with no platform to webway them, or make room for the two platforms as well.

Hmmmm...some thoughts.

I did get rid of CTM but remember if I am to utilize Vectored Engines for the minus 2 to hit, the tanks do not have Battle Focus and will be hitting on 4+.  Most of the time I see Serpents pouring all their fire into the closest enemy.  So CTM would benefit me in that situation.

The Guardians are a distraction unit with Celestial Shield. I assume about half will die the round after but that is good enough so they can shoot and charge to die, but tie up the enemy.

I wish I had some banshees.  This is the first list this edition I do not have them.

The Bright Lance Serpent and the Wraithlords are to provide a core to the gunline.  The D-cannon to tackle any really nasty big thing. Ive found it is easy to kill 1 wraithlord in a first round. So That leaves 1 more scary hth fighter and my Wave Serpents untouched if they go that route.  Without some bodies....it is easy to shoot my rangers and avengers screen so the Storm Guardians provide some meat.  If they shoot at them...great 7 point ablative wounds.
I feel that I can hold off most alpha strike with this force.

Now I do have 91 points left.  I was thinking dropping a couple storm guardians and putting in a sniper reaper autarch for both re rolls and some extra dakka.

But if I got rid of the Storm Guardians and the Reaper Autarch....What would fill in those points (around 180+) that would both bolster the line with bodies and be more effective?

Banshees could in a later round (after Alpha Strikers) charge the enemy with Quicken.  But what other options?

By the way I have yet to be impressed by the Wraithlord (except when he ripped thru a couple carnifexes one game) But I wanted to see how 2 would do buffed with a Spirit Seer.

and thanks

Ever thought about of using a Brigade size army. The CP will be there, and you have 3 FA slot filled already and fill the rest with MSU.

Again, the CTM has no benefit for assault weapons. Shuriken cannons are assault weapons and only suffer a penalty when advancing(but can still be fired). CTM specifically only affects heavy weapons.

good call about the CTM and Advancing Assault weapons.

I want the WildHost Relic: Nova Lance for a real hth monster.
The reroll for the Wildhost charge will benefit, plus the advance+charge stratagem for 1 unit on first turn alpha strike.

The rest of the army is not suited for a WildHost list.  FieldCraft is far preferred or Foresight of the Damned. (but I'm done with the FNP rolls this edition)

So having 10 cp vs 12 is not too much.  I do miss having a Warlord Autarch for the Path of Command rolls. So I get both Craftworld Traits and the Relic I want with this list.

I still am not sold on the Wraithlords. Ive seen them shot to death fast. Ive seen them rip monsters apart. Ive heard they can get tarpitted easily....and the reason for them instead of other better Heavies is a counter to deep strikers that may hit my line.  That is why I have the storm Guardians to keep the Lords from getting surrounded.

I would like to add my 3 Exodite Walkers (count as Vypers)to the theme of the list....but 210 points is a huge chunk.

Will try this list out tomorrow vs nids or imperial guard (or the orks or marines lol)

So after trying my Exodite/Craftworld army, I made a few tweeks based upon my results.

 Wildrider Outrider Detachment [Saim-Hann](+1 CP)

HQ Autarch Skyrunner NovaLance 108
FA 3 Exodite Scout Walkers (counts as Vypers) 225
Shuriken Canons x3 Star Canons x3
FA 4 Exodite Dragon Knights + Lord (counts as Shining Spears + Exarch) 126
 Star Lance
FA 4 Wind Riders 102
Twin Shuriken Catapults x2 Scatter Lasers x2

 Total 561

 FieldCraft Battalion Detachment [Alaitoc](+3CP)

HQ Warp Jump Autarch [Warlord-Mark of the Hunter} 105
Reaper Launcher + Force Field + Power Sword + Banshee Mask
HQ Spirit Seer 45 (Protect/Jinx)
 T 5 Rangers 60
 T 5 Rangers 60
 T 8 Storm Guardians 56
 Chainswords
 HVY Vaul's Distortion Canon 75
HVY Wraithlord Shuriken Catapults x2 + EML 128
HVY Wraithlord Shuriken Catapults x2 + Bright Lance + Ghost Glaive 133

 Total 662

Field Craft Battalion Detachment [Alaitoc](+3 CP)

HQ Farseer 100
 Doom/Hand of Asuryan
HQ Warlock Conclave x2 60
 Quicken/Restrain + Protect/Jinx
 T 5 Dire Avengers +Dire Sword 60
 T 5 Dire Avengers +Dire Sword 60
 T 5 Dire Avengers +Dire Sword 60
 HVY 4 Dark Reapers + EML 111
HVY 5 Dark Reapers + Shuriken Canon 123
 Trans Wave Serpent 134
Twin Shuriken Canons + Shuriken Canon
 Trans Wave Serpent 129
Twin Scatter Lasers + Twin Shuriken Catapult

 Total: 777

Total Army 2000 and 10 CP

Will almost always go second. Will rarely try to Sieze.
Put Rangers in reserve, and Cloudstrike the Exodite Scout Walkers(Vypers)
Reapers, Dire Avengers and Conclave in one Wave Serpent.
Reapers, Dire Avengers, Spirit Seer and Farseer in Wave Serpent

Will set up a fire base with Dire Avengers in front of Reaper Autarch sniping and giving buff to hidden D-Cannon. Surrounded by Stormies. Wraithlords flanking with Wave Serpents near the Vaul weapon. Exodite Knights, Skyrunner position to charge.
Windrinders are free for all to grab objectives(2 of them are basically ablative armor for the Scatter Lasers)

The Cloudstrikers will come out within in 24" of hordes and the Star Cannons will go for light vehicles or terminator types.
Rangers will bubble wrap one side and flank of the fire base.

The Exodite Knights will advance and use the stratagem to charge as well. So 22+ 2d6"
The Skyrunner will move 16 and hopefully get quickened another 16 and then charge.

Spirit Seer and Farseer will keep Wraithlords/fire base rerolling and not running away from morale.
Conclave uses 36" stratagem when needed. Otherwise make most of Protect and Jinx or the Spirit Seer just Smites.

Wave Serpents unload and the Scatter Laser one uses Fire and Fade to move in front of the Dark Reapers, begging for the enemy to shoot it.
The other Wave Serpent moves up and advances and tries to draw fire or even charge if needed to aid the Exodite Knights.
