Ultramarines Gallery
« on: June 10, 2009, 02:24:07 AM »
I would like to show you my first completed WH40k army, the Ultramarines 3rd Co.

Prior to this, I had never put together a model; I had never even used super glue!  So, all things considered, I am fairly proud of my work.  These are painted to tabletop quality, though there are a few small details here and there.

Tactical Squad Thera

Tactical Squad Stygius

Rhino I

Rhino II

Assault Squad Samson

Chaplain Tiber

There are more units than these - I have not had time to photograph everything. I am open to criticism, so please leave comments!  Hopefully I will have a chance to share more soon.

I love them!

Your style is brilliant.Dark and gritty, everything i imagine 40K to be.

The Tac marines look great, nice to see Ultramarines with red Shoulder trims.

Cheers. :)

i love that dirty look you gave them. Makes them look a bit chalky which makes them blend in with the terrain. So much better than the bright Ultramarines u usually encounter.

I'm just curious... did you prime the chaplain in white, because the Crozius Arcanum (i think thats it) looks kinda white'ish.
Anyway, nice job man.

The photograph of the MKI rhino is stunning, I can't stop looking at it. The composition, lighting...Perfect.

Great job and excellent display of them in the photos, you would put some of the GW staff to shame.

Thank you everyone! =)

@timoquil: In real life the color is a bit more vibrant. The chaplain was primed white.  I know, I know - WHY would anyone do that?  Well, when I figure out a good reason, I'll let you know.

I've had a chance to crop a few more photos!

Again your camera work is excellent and really shows off the real life feel to your paint job.

These looks great dude. Really like the glowing eyes on your modified captain.

Your figures are great, but your tanks are really excellent.  I love how you took the "factory shine" off of them, and they have a more "historical modeller" look to them.

Well done!

Wow, those are so well done! It almost looks like you painted them and then threw some dry dirt on them before taking the picture!

Thanks!

I did throw a little dry dirt on the Predator, and I'm pretty sure it got on the bases as well.  What can I say?  I was having fun with the photography.

I do enjoy the 'weathered' look, and took inspiration from a number of historical painters whose talents far surpass mine.  If you've never seen Ultrawerke, here's a link:

His methods are far more in-depth than mine, as he paints showcase minis and I paint for gaming.

I am working on some Sternguard and will post them when they're finished. =)
