Topic: Nurgle DP WIP

Howdy.  Heres my Nurgle DP.  Almost done.  Need to work on the gore and zits and stuff.  Images are a bit yellowy as usual but its not too far off.  The spines on his back are a little more on the purple side which I'm still not too sure about and all the orangey areas (wires, exposed muscle, etc.) are more reddish than orange.  What'choo fink?

Mr Wall said exactly what I wanted to say... wow wow wow wow wowwow. How did you make all the bits... I don't know the Chaos line that well, but I can only see a few bits that come from actual Daemon Princes? And where did you nick the sword from?

That's the new Nurgle daemon prince, only thing I can see out of place is the hood, which I'm guessing is greenstuff?

Oh. Damn. Well, its still a really great job, but I can't help feeling a little disappointed.

The yellowness of the photo makes the orange bits stand out a little more than they probably do in real life. That looks cool on the boils, but that little hose with the yellow highlighting, which is in deep shadow anyway, could probably stand to be turned green or Tin Bitz, or something. Perhaps a brown/black wash over the green hoses for a bit of definition.

Very nice (or rather unnice  ). I like the orange. Just make the base something special.

thanks a lot for the replies folks. 

Yeah, concerning the base.  I had to use a flying stand because my box didn't come with a monstrous creature base.....!  so I based it with sand and painted it.  a lot of the sand and paint came off so its sort of clear in areas.  In the picture it almost looks like hes standing near a pool of murky water or something.  I might try to accentuate that effect.

the model is pretty straight up.  I resculpted the head and added a bunch of wires coming out of it and added a little bit of armor to his lower belly so I could paint it like armor rather than the sort of tank top thing the regular model is rocking.  I actually painted this up very fast and sloppily but the sculpting is such that the model is condusive to dry and wet brushing.  it is layered as I normally paint, but just much looser.

Yeah I wasn't sure about some of the orange wires.  There is a large one on his arm as well.  Unscientific Postscript -why do you think that that orange tube on the belly needs to go?  too contrasty?  Jarring?

Yeah, too much of a contrast. The colours of the armour, sword etc. all work together, and make the model greater than its parts. But the pipes are the things that grab my attention, because they're so bright. Dulling the red down, everywhere but especially on those pipes, would make one concentrate on the head/sword/belly again.

Then again, I like restraint on a miniature, so that might just be my bias showing through.
