taking Drones for look out sir

as title says, how efficient has the tactic of taking drones for the sole purpose of look out sir been working? now that drones are fixed T4 and no longer take the Toughness of the owner, taking 2 shield drones with riptide sounds like a bad idea to me as it reduce the riptide toughness to T4 instead of its high toughness, instead id have to take the missile shield drone since they have the same toughness.
Am i posting my threads in the right place? because i get often confused... :-/

You need to read your codex more carefully. The riptide can't take normal drones nor is the riptide a character so you can't LOS it.

However, I think for the commander the LOS roll is a 2+ making it really nice.
One sure mark of a fool is to dismiss anything that falls outside of his experience as being impossible.

No, a lot of MCs are chars, but not automatically. Additionally, don't forget about the special rule for crisis suit bodyguards and LOS
