Strontium Dog - 2000AD fan film
« on: May 23, 2017, 09:34:31 PM »
Well, they were in Star Lord first but *no-one* remembers back that far. A fan film showing a mission from the Search/Destroy agents. Hit all manner of appropriate spots.

Same people who did the Judge Minty film a while back.

You have to love the smell of science in the morning. It smells of learning.... or perhaps a gas leak.

The Judge Minty film got heat seekers *right* which is a step up. They missed that in the Dredd movie.

There's only one. You're probably thinking of the earlier satire version where he took his helmet off. Comical!

Bwahaha!
Stallone couldn't go an entire movie without showing his face, mate. Fair go.

Yeah, I know. Back then though that's all we had. Now there's been a *decent* movie and a Dredd TV series in production even. These fan films, done so well, keep the memories alive for the other stories.

Big Finish has done some Dan Dare stuff but that's even older than most remember.

Wasn't fussed on the second either, GS. All that history and lore of the franchise and 90 percent of the movie was within one blessed building.

It was more a character piece than an expose of Mega City One. It's not like they could go full on Apocalypse War or Judge Death straight off the bat. The first one tried what with jumping out to the Cursed Earth and then back again yet that left the characters shallow and dull.

I hear what your saying, Grim, and agree. Now the introductions are over the movie series should take off just nicely. I like Karl Urban as an actor, however, I think Temuera Morrison has a better look for the part of dread.

Post Dead Man I wouldn't argue with Temuera Morrison. I'm sure the die hards wouldn't agree though.

Take Rogue Trooper, if a movie were to made made I'd argue against comic accuracy and tell him to put a bloody shirt on rather than run around stabbing people with pecs exposed.

If they didn't put pants on Dr Manhattan, Grim, they won't put a shirt on Rogue Trooper.

Yeah, I know. Still, we have standards! The man should wear a shirt though, he bothered to put on pants after all (unlike Dr. Manhattan).

Helm no likey.

They did actually do that in one of the issues, IIRC. With suitable biochip disgust, as you'd do.

All the same, a Rogue Trooper movie would be somewhat strife ridden in the US market what with the war between the Norts and the Southers... and the Southers were the *good guys*.
