Tau Tactics: Great Strike, Great Strength?
« on: August 21, 2009, 02:58:43 PM »
Hello, i have a question about the Tau in Dawn of war: Soulstorm.

Here they are,

1. Exactly what is Great Strength, Great Strike?  I know that its a less utilized tactic among the Tau forces.  But, exactly what and how is this tactic?  How would a Tau commander use it and how would he think if used this tactic?  How is it used?  Also, what are the other tactics that Tau Commanders might use?

2.  What color scheme are the Tau using in Dawn of War: Soulstorm?

3.  I know this cant really be made, but does Shas Or'es'ka win Soulstorm?  I think i read somewhere that the Imperial Guard officaly won Soulstorm.  If they did, does this mean that Shas Or'es'ka retreated and may still be alive?  Or is he pretty much dead, considering since he isn't Gorgutz and that he wont ever be mentioned again in any type of Warhammer 40k story or game again?

We don't know. To be charitable, it's whatever you happen to use while playing.

Presumably it means Kauyon and Mont'ka, 'the patient hunter' and 'the killing blow' respectively.

They look like this. Red and black. Though I must admit, I'm baffled how you could know about the specifics of Soulstorm without ever seeing a screenshot...

I believe all we know is that Boreale and the Space Marines lost. Since Kaurava hasn't come up in any subsequent Tau background, one assumes that the Tau didn't win. A prestigious Third Phase colony would surely be mentioned elsewhere, would it not?

I think he meant, how do their colours identify them? For example, from which sept world are they, or which theatre of war demands bringht red.

Personally I think the answer to #2 is "ceremonial dress".

In that case, their colours strike me as a variant on the ceremonial colours of the Sa'cea sept. One can imagine circumstances in which a dull red would be acceptable camouflage, but even on the red planet in the Kaurava system (my memory fails me as to the actual name; the one Eldar and Necrons start on), their armour is still on the lurid side. It's probably ceremonial.

It's Kaurava III that's the red one.

Yes, Relic mentioned that the Imperial Guard won Soulstorm.  So then, their ending videos for each race would be the outcome of each of those foes, right?
