Out of interest I would like to know who the Globals & Staff consider the most notorious member between 2012 - 2014. I know from experience that a lot of the behaviour that can get people warned/banned goes completely unnoticed by me.

Hymirl.

He kind of was our go to "Notorious."  Frankly, as far as notoriety goes, I'd say he ranks higher on the All-time list than Ghaz does, but not by much.
If there is anything that recent politics has taught us, it is that quotes taken out of context can mean what ever you want them to.
Well I always liked the globals...

As always I am surprised by who Globals think as Notorious. Unless you are both joking. I know Hymirl was blunt bordering on rude in the Rules Forum but I never thought of him as Notorious. I always put his bluntness down to the way the written word can't always express sentiment. Ghaz on the other hand.....

Who's this Ghaz?

He was a very forceful rules debater back in the day.

Ah, I see.

It amuses me how angry some people get over the rules.  After all, it's only a game. ;)

Also, I vote ambience 327 for best modeller.  I think I've only got the staff awards left to decide.  And I might abstain those because I honestly couldn't decide.

When you get sent a Report with one of his posts named and your first thought is "what the *beslubber* has he done this time" you're notorious.

I might be revealing a bit too much of myself, but I often reflected that conversations with Hymirl were like conversations with ex-lovers.

Something innocuous might come up, we both happen to be in the same room at the same time. A simple disagreement would quickly devolve into name calling, avoidance of a fair or honest recounting, manipulation. Eventually, the accusations of cheating would start to fly, and then tempers would boil over.

Regardless of the cruelty or accuracy of such accusations, it gets old after the 50th time. No matter how good the makeup... uh... arguments were. Not that we argued again, after agreeing to see different avatars. We both knew it was self destructive behaviour.

I have to agree that Hymirl is the most notorious. Nothing like being berated for being slightly incorrect on a rules interpretation. Sometimes just having a differing opinion...

Hymirl and I actually got on pretty well.  Probably because I wasn't in the rules thread that often, although he did bite me once too.  But I have to agree with you all.  He was notorious in his attitude.

He went to another 40k site but he's now gone quiet.  Obviously I hope he's OK.

I met and had dinner with Hymril once. He was nice in person. I unfortunately missed my chance to get in a game with him. But, he was around when I played Killing Time, who doesn't seem to be around anymore.

Notorious doesn't have to automatically mean evil, merely very well known for not all the right reasons.

Like me, I am notorious!  But just be aware that the last person that put me up for a Notorious nomination had an... accident.   8)

I feel entirely unqualified to vote on any of these.

Well first off see Spectral Arbor's post on this subject earlier in this thread. Secondly I think you are more than qualified to vote. You were active 2012 - 2014 and in my opinion are probably better placed than most to vote in the Discussion and Fluff categories. Hell I think you should nominate yourself for the Fluff category for all the posts you  made in the Background Forum.

Notorious doesn't have to automatically mean evil, merely very well known for not all the right reasons.

Oh right I always reserved my Notorious vote for those posters that got Spammer titles or got banned. Now you have explained it my list of people has suddenly got much bigger.

I met and had dinner with Hymril once. he was around when I played Killing Time, who doesn't seem to be around anymore.

Are you trying to tell us that Hymirl should be considered notorious for more than just being a mean rules lawyer?

Like me, I am notorious!  But just be aware that the last person that put me up for a Notorious nomination had an... accident.

Oh, hang on maybe it was GML that "disappeared" Killing Time and not Hymirl.

@ Spectral Arbor: If nothing else changes by the end of this year your ex-lover post has just gained you my funniest poster vote for 2015.

Since this thread is to acknowledge those who've helped to keep this place alive, it makes sense to also acknowledge the fact that this place is very much alive again!  We've got lots of regulars, new members joining, and lots of ongoing threads too.  We're still not anywhere near the glory days but this is still a promising development none the less.  :)
