Space Wolves... the Wolves are back..!

Thought I'd title this in a similar way to my other project thread for continuity reasons...
So even though I have a box full of Orks and assorted paraphernalia to finish (maybe even start..?)... I couldn't resist starting another project as well. I seem to be unable to finish one thing before starting another!
So this project will be a mini one... 5 Wolf Guard Terminators and 5 (at the moment) Space Wolves...
Two of the Terminators (WIP) to start with:
So there we have it. I'm finding painting these a completely different experience to painting the Orks... You can't be as messy with power armour as you can with bashed up orky stuff..! I'm reading the Horus Heresy at the mo' and have gained a degree of respect for the Astartes and their history, so I'm trying to portray that a little too... You know?
Cheers..!

Nice work there!
I really like how the skin on the assault cannon terminator turned out. Mind sharing how you did that?
The armor is quite neatly done. Now it might be the pictures/lighting, but somehow it seems to me the armor could use a bit more 'light' if you know what I mean.
I'll say it again - impressive stuff

Thanks..!
The flesh was basically a basecoat of tallarn flesh (or dwarf flesh I can't remember..!) washed with ogryn flesh. Then highlighted with bronzed flesh, then elf flesh, then extreme highlights with bleached bone..! Quite a process, but it turned out better than I'd hoped..!
I know what you mean about 'light' on the armour though... The photos have come out a little darker, and the cloaked wolf lord guy has no highlighting yet, but... yeah, maybe another level of highlighting..?
I've work a little more on these two yesterday:
Still quite a way to go, but getting there...

I am not a huge fan of Space Wolves but your minis look very nice.
The yellow on the shoulder pad is very clean and well done.
Do your Orks look anything like your SWs?

Can I ask what you think of the 'battle damage'..? I'm trying to get them to look a bit battle worn...
cheers

Your Orks look great.
I like your painting style. It's very good.
On the battle damage: From what I can see it looks good.
Two questions, though:
Is the damage painted on the armour or did you actually scratch / drill the areas where the damage is seen?
Also, what are you aiming for actual damage to the armour or just chipped / worn off paint?

The damage is just painted on...
I didn't want anything too serious, just wear and tear... No major damage..! I mean whose going to be able to do much damage to these two..!?
Also, there's no damage to the back. I wanted to show that they've never fled from a fight...

Looks good to me.
I like the variation of skin colour on both terminator marines.
A very small detail but adds to the 'realism'.

Personally I think a snow base would look much better and more realistic on them, however it is your figure, you make the call.
Edit: Wonderful job though, especially on the skin.

Thanks,
I've been deliberating on basing my figures... Basically I've decided to base them all in the same way, so they all seem to exist in the same place... if you see what I mean..?
But, yeah snow would look cool... maybe I could adapt my scheme...
Edit: That's done it... I've ordered some modeling snow..!

So I took Dark Corsair's advice and plunged this lot into a cold, snowy place!
just realised I need to edge two of the bases..! Bah..!
I'm quite pleased with the snow, but I'm not sure about the long grass... needs a bit of work I think...

wow, these look awesome =)
the grass looks fine as is, as does the snow. the only thing i would say is that there should be no snow on the base of the Heavy Flamer dude, just puddles of slush =)

Those Termis look great.
And the close-ups reveal the high detail of painted-on battle damage much better than before.
That's good work.

Thanks..!
The melted snow is simply some Galeforce 9 modeling snow mixed with some PVA (or wood glue I can't remember which)... blobbed on with a little extra modeling snow sprinkled on top here and there...

Excellent job on those Wolves. I love the damage and the OOP Yellow on the shoulders.
Cheers
PS... And like I said, the Wolves are looking really good. I do hope that you continue to do the Orks too though.
