Autumn Painting Challenge [Month 1/3]
« on: August 30, 2007, 11:08:57 PM »
Welcome to the September Painting Challenge. We are now into the 2nd year of these, first under Loydb, Khemri Demon, Serious Callers Only and now me. The goal of this challenge is to get some of that unpainted lead that most of us have laying around table-ready. At the start of each month, participants pledge to have a squad painted by the closing date.

I will update this post with a list of people who wish to vow.

RULES

1. Vows will be frozen 10 days after the start of the challenge. There is no changing of *any* vow after day 10. Say what you'll paint, then paint what you say. If you don't already own the models you want to paint, I suggest not making the vow until you do.  Vows are still accepted after the 10th, but they can not be changed afterward.

2. This is more of a request than a rule. *Please* post work in progress pics if you possibly can. One of the best things about the thread is watching stuff come together.  It's perfectly fine if you don't post any photos, however.

3. I need to know unit sizes when you post your vows.

FAQ
Q: Do I have to do Games Workshop figs?
A: No. Several people make Warmachine vows, myself included.  Feel free to do vows based on any game system.

Q: I need to change my vow!
A: You have until Day 10 of the month.

Q: What if I don't have a camera?
A: We operate on the honor system. If you say you did it, we believe you. There are no prizes, so you only get the satisfaction of lying on the internet if you choose to do so.

Q: Will you do one of these every month?

A: That's the goal. Assuming the board manages to stay up

Q: Hey, what if we finish our vow but decide to paint more?
A: Paint away! If you mean, can you get a head start on next month, I guess so. But it's kind of cheesy to make a vow with a 75% painted unit at the start of the month...

I think I'll give my 'nids a going over this month.  I shall vow:

16 termagants
3 Raveners
8 Genestealers

edit: I'll add two Imperial Guard models to that too: an Officer and a normal guardsman.

This time I Will finish.not promising anything though...

I vow:

1 Hellhound
1 Sentinel

There, nice and easy. :P
Maybe the regiment consists entirely of Ninjas who were orphaned by Dark Eldar slavers. With a score to settle, these black clad night assassins fight against their hated parent-murderers with laser shurikens and untold ferocity.

Right...this week its a toss-up between one of my sword brethren (acting marshall) or my chaplain.I'm leaning towards the Chaplain. Theres something about skull faced giants you just can't beat! This all depends if I can get my planned conversion done though...more details later in the month.

So, I'm gonna say Chaplain.

If you want to procure my services for anything from painting, terrain building or planet/artwork creation, please get in touch by either sending me a private message, or an email at jamescameronclarke@hotmail.co.uk.

I vow a Mordheim Reiklander band of around 9 people (I need to rewrite the list to add a few more so I don't have the specifics) and the =][= Arbites Judge.

NB: I don't have a working camera at the moments.  I'll borrow my dads whenever possible.

I carry with me an Inquisitorial Seal. It is a small, unassuming object contained in a neat box of Pluvian obsidian. It is a modest thing. Relatively plain, adorned with a single motif and a simple motto. Yet with this little object I can sign the death warrant of an entire world and consign a billion souls to Oblivion.

I finished my last vow rather quick so let me try to make it a challenge for me this month:

I Vow:
-Stegadon without skinks [as explained last month why]
-Skink priest
-Skink chief
-10 skinks
-2 salamanders

Should be harder to paint, perhaps I will vow to do some more after I finished these this month later on in another post. But I think that this will come a long way for this months painting challenge :P

- 1 GW version Exorcist
- 1 FW version Exorcist (yes, I'm nutz)
- 1 Eldar Farseer (commissioned)

I think I could do more, but school is already starting and I can't gaurantee how long it takes.  Also, this exorcist is a 3 month long project.  First 2 months was just filing the shot down.  Gawd, whatever I've complained about GW's molding before is NOTHING compared to this piss poor molding job on this pewter exorcist.

Last time I did this was a year or so ago, and was around 30 guardsmen and 2 tanks.....

Gonna go nice and easy this time with 5 Dire Avengers. Possibly a Waveserpent if I'm feeling saucy.

I vow:
10 Crimson Fist Space Marines.

I know, way easy, but I've had them sitting on my shelf for Emperor knows how long. This should get me rolling at least. :D

I suppose I have cheated slightly, I had 3 of these already basecoated....  :-\ I'll add 3 more to make a total of 8.

WIP shot, basecoated armour and thinned ink wash (still drying)
