The complete 2000pts force:

Indeed.

Ever wondered what a LRC in a cookie tin looks like?

This has basically cleaned out my simple green supply.

UPDATE-

Red sections done on the terminators in the new scheme:

Next I plan to coat the heads, chest eagles, and various skulls in dark grey.  Then I'll go over those areas up to white.

The bottom half of the LRC is stripped, the paint came right off surprisingly.  Maybe because most of it is large flat areas.  Anyway, it's flipped over and the top half is soaking tonight.  I might be painting that sucker this week.

UPDATE-
Grey sections on those terminators.  I use this grey coat because lighter colors can look wierd painted directly on black.

Then brown over areas that will be skull-colored at the end.

Off-white on the skulls.

Next is metallics and a wash over various areas.  The lightning claws will be a bright necronish green, other weapon areas will be silver.

The LRC is like new:

I plan to give it a similar scheme to the terminators.

Update-
Got some good pictures of the two finished tac squads.

Red Squad

The greenstuffed powerfist.  It came out a bit blotchy, but oh well.

Silver Squad

Some pics of the finished walking chaplain "Viktor"

Thats awesome dude! Way to go with actually painting them all to a good standard. I just started a 1750 Space Marine army. It is all infantry, so it comes out to a crazy 53 models. I am going to try and sell it on ebay so they have to look very sharp, Ultramarines never looked so good :). On average it is taking me about 2 hours per mode, that is on the basic bolter marine. Keep at it and I am sure it will look great!!

Thanks.  Good luck painting your marines!  Just do a bit everyday.

UPDATE-
Well, I've done several washes on the terminator's armor, bone areas, and a lot of work on those claws.  Also did some metallics on the weapons, but my silver paint is missing so there's a lot of gold on these dudes.

Sarg and two LC guys.  I'm doing his face very pale to represent my fluff of subterranean marines.

More LC guys.  I think the claws came out pretty nice.

Thunder hammers.  I'll do the arms afterwards, had some trouble holding them up to paint seperately.

These guys are nearly done now, just need to do the eyes, basing stuff, and those shield arms.

The LRC is primed and basecoated black.  No pic, cause it just looks...black.

Thanks!  I put quite a few layers onto those claws, glad it was worth it.

Anyway, here's the latest with those termies.  I've done the shield arms, bases, various smaller details.  I ordered some modelling leaves mixes last week, those will hopefully add to the termies basing.  The rest of the army look like they're standing on astroturf or a golf green, I wanted something more interesting here.  The little chunks are bits of buildings that came with a starter set(battle of macragge, maybe) that I chopped up.  Hopefully they look like roman columns.

The sarge and 2 LC guys:

3 more LC guys:

Thunderhammer termies:

Next I'm working on the LRC and I went ahead and got out a regular LR as well.  I've primed the second one and am basecoating it black.  Then I'll do a dark red basecoat to match the termies.  Doing 2 is almost as easy as one anyway.

UPDATE-
Ok, the termies are finally done.  I did more base work, small details here and there and varnished the suckers:
Lighting Claws

Thunder Hammers

Group Shot

The LR's have black basecoats and part of the red:

These are the biggest vehicles I've ever painted, it's interesting tackling all these big flat areas.

UPDATE-
LR's have red basecoats, red highlights, metallic areas, and some of the green sections done.

I plan to do a similar effect on the lascannon barrels as the lighting claws on the terminators.  Mostly sticking to gold and copper paint to match the termie scheme.  Next is more green highlights, then start working on the bone-colored detailing areas (little skulls, imperial eagle, etc).  I've removed the HB and AC pintles to make painting easier.

Finally found some cheap bases for all my regular termies, so I'll be doing around 17 of them probably next week.

Also, getting more regular marines set up to paint.  A new tac squad, shooty this time.  These guys will eventually be 10 strong with a plas gun and plas cannon(stripping right now):

UPDATE-
I've done a some shading and details on the land raiders, particularly the skull areas and several layers of green on the lascannons.  Not sure how that's going to come out yet.

The standard LR:

Crusader:

I've stripped a ton of tactical terminators, put them on big 40mm bases, primed and basecoated them:
Tactical terminators:

These will be the same scheme as the other terminators.

About a day on each side (top and bottom) in simple green.  And a lot of scrubbing.

Finishing up on the land raiders.  The LRC is done:

Detail of the gunner:

I lost the little sponson shields while stripping, until I ebay up some replacements.   :'(

Also, trying out using rare earth magnets.  Here's an old tyrant and warriors with the same wings (now magnetized):

Very awesome army!  How did you get all those bits for the troops?

I'm writing a list that is very much like yours; how did you get so many missile launchers?

I guess you mean all those cc weapons?  I bought some big lots of like 15-20 chainswords or bolt pistols (many of them chaos cause they're cheaper) and put them on regular marine bodies.  The other stuff: special weapons, missle launchers I mostly had in my collection already.  Just comes from years of collecting marines.  Every edition starter set had at least one ML trooper, they sort of added up.  Glad to hear you're making an army.  Be warned, the cc weapons are less common than bolter arms and they're gonna be more expensive.

UPDATE-
Just fiddling with the storm bolter on my land raider, it'll be done soon.  Meanwhile, I have this pile of terminators I'm slowly going through:

and behind them are a ton more regular marines for tac squads:

I'm also magnetizing my landspeeders.

I've got the assault cannons magnetized, and converted some heavy flamers out of 2 flamers and a bit of sprue:

Ultimately, I'm going to magnetize the heavy bolters on the speeders as well, so I can swap between HB's or multimeltas whenever I want.

Man, this really gives me hope for my mass repaint project. I never knew that simple green could work so well on plastics, I was worried that I would have to ebay my army and start over.

Very nicely done, that LRC is just uber cool!

Thanks!

I used to use break fluid for a long time, but it takes longer to work and is very toxic.  Simple green is just concentrated detergent, so I just put the models in a cup in the house and cover with plastic wrap.  It does seem to work cleaner on metal minis, and some of my plastics have some kind of paint that doesn't come off very well (some wierd super-thick primer, or maybe gloss spray paint).  I got that huge container for like 15 bucks, it's lasted for a few months so far (you can re-use the simple green quite a few times).
