« on: November 16, 2003, 10:18:21 AM »
i am planning on starting eldar but i am not sure if i want to go craftworld eldar... or harlequins...

this is my very first army for warhammer 40K and i do not know much....

i just wanted to know if I shoudl use harlequins or not...

*btw if you could also put together a $100 army from the US online store... that would be GREAT!!!!!

Try not to cross post as it is a very bad habit on forums in general.

to re-say what I told in the other post of yours on that topic, NO, harlies are not beginner friendly.

Moreover they are not AT ALL an official army for the moment... being at most under testrules (for a long time now) and becoming may be official under one form or another in a perhaps (some might say certainly) far future (3 years? 4? 5? more? less? even GW design studio is said to have no idea on that point for now.)
Current FB armies: HE, Empire, Kislev allieds, Night gobbos, Chaos (Mortal, Beasts), Ogre kingdoms, Dogs of war, Dwarves

If you do want to start Harlequins, it is best to include a character or squad in a regular Eldar army, as aposed to starting an army of them exclusivly.
Also, try not to post the same topic in different boards.  It's considered bad manners.

Generally, saying in the first thread that you would like advice on both lists will get enough attention on its own.  We'll cut you some slack since your new around here.

Assuming you want to purchase all your harlequins, rather than converting them, the link in Rasmus' sig will be very helpful.

Good luck and feel free to show us what list you come up with.

It is a good start. You can also try to use a proxy, like Phoenix Lord Asurmen, as a Great Harlequin, just to test him out as an Elite in your Eldar army. Once you have tested some different Harlequins as Elites, you can start branching out into your own army of Harlequins. Good luck.

yay!!

i was also looking into 40K in 40 mins

i think it would be cool if i could field 1 squad of guardians *or even convert them into troupes!!*
and the rest of my army as harlequin!! they seem very fun to play with and even funner to convert!

Well, technically you can do it the other way around; all Craftworlders and a added a Harlequin troupe, but not the other way around.

Hell and No! harlequins are not noob freindly. If you want a more stand out army that isn't "usual" go for a specific craftworld force (Saim-Han, Iyanden, Biel-tan, etc.)

Digging up old, since long dead, topics and posting on them, especially without adding some remarkable new input into the discussion, is really poor netiquette, and the thread has now been locked. We like to keep current topics on page one of the forum, so dragging up older material is not something desirable. Please don't do that in the future. Thank you.
Have a nice day.
