40k Minature Exchange!
« on: January 24, 2008, 09:18:41 AM »
Inspired by a post on heresy forums.

Basically, would you all be interested in a minature exchange?

What is that?
You make a model for someone elses army. A unique model to be fielded amongst your customers general list. It would be a best of your ability model. It should be converted, based, and painted to the best of your ability!

How would you do it?
Get a list of everyone who wants to participate, assign them a number, and randomly draw a number from a hat (also check the VOLUNTEER! section below). That person makes a model for the next person drawn, etc. Your customer will tell you his army, and what type of guy he wants. Say a tactical marine, a guardian, whatever. The model has to fit the wargear for that unit type, but it may be converted however the maker wants!

When?
Last day for registering is Thursday Jan 31, 2008.
All models should be completed and shipped by the end of february! 1 month is plenty of time for 1 model :)

Restrictions!
-You shouldn't ask for something really expensive. For example, you can't say "I want a venerable dreadnought!" We can put a maximum price (unless the maker wants to spend more), whatever everyone agrees on.
-You should be moderately skilled with converting and painting. To keep everyone happy and no one bitter, everyone will want something of decent quality. So if you are a really bad painter, i'd ask you sit this one out  :(

*people will also be matched up with location restrictions. I.E. canada and us people won't get people from europe or aussie. this prevents uber expensive / annoying shipping, etc..*

VOLUNTEER!
Spot a member who you would really like to make a model for? Have the bits to do a really cool conversion for X? Volunteer to make an item for a person! Just put under your ap, I volunteer to make X's model! NOTE: You cannot volunteer for someone who already has a person making their model! So please check that first. Anyone who doesn't have a volunteer to do their model will be randomly drawn from a hate and assigned someone!

How to register?
Send me a PM or reply to this thread with the following info:

1) Europe, Aussi, or USA/canada?
2) Army theme and colour scheme (if you have a SINGLE picture showing your scheme pm it to me)
3) What unit do you want made for you for under $15 or under retail? (a marine, a biker, a terminator, etc)

Got an idea? share it! What do you guys think? Who's interested!

Me! Me! Anyone who'd have the exchange with me could do a model for either my Nid or Nurgle army.
I'LL BE BACK SOON!

CSM - Nurgle - The Dead Company of Morgion - 4900+ points and growing
Nids - Hive Fleet Thanatos - 2100 points and growing (reaaally slowly)
Coming maybe someday: Orks - Da Black Jawz

Check this out! :D

Haha! If we all understand that there's likely someone to be pit against you that isn't in the same country...
We should make sure people that exchange are not too far away from eachother. But other than that, if that's realised, I am in! :D

It would be interesting but I'd hate to have to buy a box of eldar guardians, tau fire warriors or space marine scouts etc in order to make a single model.

I'm still fairly interested in the idea though  :)

I am interested!  I would probably do something out of a blister just so I dont have to buy a whole box.  I have both eldar and orks as well as HE, Chaos and Lizardmen for fantasy.  I live in the Northwest United states (Montana)

A possible way round this would be to match people by armies if at all possible if people did want standard troopers. However this could get a bit complicated.

Isn't it easier to make a US/canada group, an Aussie group and an EU group (I know sending packages within EU costs the same so I gather it is in the two other groups)?

It sounds interesting and could be really fun! I guess people should probably give a hint of their colour scheme as well as their armies so that you don't get a Blood Angel for your White Scars army... Also should this be restricted to WH40k or does it not matter?

Ok this is what we'll do.

NO HEROS, NO SPECIAL CHARACTERS. Just a standard unit. The deadline to PM me all this stuff will be Thursday Jan 31, 2008. At that time I will put together a list showing who is making what, and post it as the first post on this thread. You will then have 3 weeks to convert and paint the model, and by the end of february we will exchange them. If people get it done with haste, we can exchange earlier!

I'm up for it.  Something for my Eldar would be awesome, if we do group put me in the UK/EU one.
I carry with me an Inquisitorial Seal. It is a small, unassuming object contained in a neat box of Pluvian obsidian. It is a modest thing. Relatively plain, adorned with a single motif and a simple motto. Yet with this little object I can sign the death warrant of an entire world and consign a billion souls to Oblivion.

I "MIGHT" participate... I've always wanted to do something of this sorts, but have never  the time to do it, nor the money, so I would probably have to improvise...
"For my lord, my master, I will slaughter in the name or Nurgle. For my own gain and ambitions, I will kill those in my way. For the power of the warp, I will allow Daemon Hood to take my body. As for you, I will slaughter you if you stand in my way. Death to the righteous, death to the holy, and death to those that offer their praises to the emperor!"

Sounds fun, but I don't actually have any money at the moment :'(.
But put me down as a maybe. (Actually now I think about it I have enough to do this :))
I'd like something Space Mariney. I'd ask for something Eldary but thats optional :P.
I live in Bristol, England :)
Im open to making troops from any army, but SM/Necrons/Eldar/Tyranids/IG is very much more likely for me to be able to do.
But anything would be interesting for me.

I'd have a go at this; converting/painting a single model for someone will actually get me motivated to do some of my own stuff.

I'm in the UK and would like something IG in an urban colour scheme please. :D

nah mate, look at the volunteer section at the top :)
changed it a little. So people who have the bits to make something don't have to go out and buy another armies boxed set.
