Check out my Harlequin display / transport board!! WIP
« on: March 21, 2010, 10:48:37 PM »
I recently attended my first tourney, and have seen the benefit of having a display board....  it really sucks, having to pack up between games.  Heres the remedy:

Whatcha think?

That says nothing. Could you please elaborate/add detail/add completed picture with models?

Well it looks good so far. Mind telling us what your plans are for the display board (flock, terrain, etc)?

Btw. What units do you use in your harlie army. Three squads of harlequins and three wraithlords I'm guessing from the footprints on the boards. What are the troops? Scouts, dire avengers?

That says nothing. Could you please elaborate/add detail/add completed picture with models?

I'd like to complement you on making the wording. That can be really tough and yours looks really even. How did you make it?

Good start so far. Making a nice display board goes a long way as well as looks nice (even for your house). I'm assuming 3 tooled up squads of Harlies, 3x EML/BL lords, and 2 squads of 5 paths?

3 Wraithlords
10 scouts (2 squads)
3 squads of 9 harlies (one has kisses)
Maugan ra
Eldrad

To make the letters, I photoshopped the "harlequins" lettering from the front of the "regiment of reknown" box, cut out and glued to insulation foam (pink). then used my soldering iron (with different heads) to recess the areas around it.

I plan on making this a ruined concrete area....  the rough areas will be broken....  maybe with some static grass....  the blank areas will be lined like concrete pads (expansion lines)

hope to have somemore pics tomorrow.

Well, you could try to make it look a bit like a Craftworld or some Harlequin theater; I think I saw somewhere in this board a thread with ideas for Harly diorama based just on that; you could also add rubble, concrete etc. as you planned, something like to show that Harlequins are marching to war after some Chaos bastard destroyed it.

BYB is too close to BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze) which is how I started gaming anyways. The proper way.

Good idea about the theatre.....   This is my first display board (a prototype, if you will) Maybe I'll plan something like that for my next one.  (will probably sell this one after the advanced version is made)

Anyway....  Here's another pic:

You should reflock the board with aqaurium gravel, leave the poofy boa stuff around the borders, and I see a lot of plain-looking models in there (e.g. not enough wild colors in there yet), for shame!

Aye, unfininshed minis.....   At the tourney everyone said "Oh, youre running harlies? How cute!" , "they look fluffy and gay!".  After they trounced everyone, and took second place (3wins 0loss....  2nd due to Kill points) I asked how "cute and gay" they were now....   lol

could you post a close-up on the green headed Wraithlord? the one on the far right... his face looks like the Green goblin's helmet... am I wrong?

As for the display, I'm not a fan of the colored boa... but that's just my taste...
And I feel that it's stealling the eye focus on the minis....

Besides the boa, your display look good...
