Blood Angels Tactical Advice
« on: July 6, 2011, 09:08:18 AM »
Hi there,

I'm playing another BA player who is a regional manager at GW in the UK. He is a pretty experienced tourny player and I'm fairly new as my posts have shown.

He plays BA with something like;
Captain
10 Man TAC squad + Rhino
10 Man TAC squad + Rhino
10 Man TAC squad + Rhino
5 Man Sternguard + Razor
5 Man Sternguard + Razor
Pred
Pred
Pred

My List will be;
Mephiton
Librarian, Termy armour, Unleash Rage and Shield
5 X Termies, 4 x LC, 1 x TH/SS
1 X Priest
1 X Chaplain
6 X Death Co, Infernus pistol
5 X RAS , melta, fist, in RAZ with Las/Plas
5 X RAS , melta, fist, in RAZ with Las/Plas
LRC
LR

The Termies, Libby and Priest go in the LRC. The Death Co and the Chappy go in the LR. Mephiston lurks, flies and causes carnage.

What do you guys think of my list and how would you play either side.

Thanks for any help

How many points is this list? I think two LRs combined with meph and DC is using up way too many points. You also only have two weak scoring units making objective missions hard. I think you should trim some of the flare. Take ONE hammer unit in a LR but not two. With the points saved get another RB assault squad. Some extra long ranged AT in the form of preds would be useful as well.

I have tried equipping the 5 man assault marines with wargear before and found it rarely worth the points. 5 marines really will not do much in CC so at least drop the fists if you need points.

PTS is 1750.

I take your point about the RAS. Drop fists and get 1 more termy! :P

Well, his list has three strong units: Mephiston, Termies in LRC, and DC in LR. Moreover, he has two fire support units in form of the Razorback squads.

Your plan should be to stop the Landraiders at first sight. For this, you could use two small Sternguard units with combi-meltas in drop pods. Anyway, you need to stay back shooting him during his advance and being prepared with a resistent force when he will hit your front ranks.

Frankly, your army, especially the Tacticals, are not really a match up for this force. Tacticals have no place in a BA army. With this list, you could play another chapter as well such that an army led by Vulcan.

Uhm Wuestenfux...you got the lists mixed I think.

The OP's list is the ones with the LR's, the first list is his opponents list ;)

To be honest Mephiston is more a choice you'd want to take if you have jumpackers or squads in rhino's.
Either drop him and 1 LR or drop 1 LR and take some jump packers.

Also are the DC with jump packs?
6 man is IMHO to small for a footslogging unit.

PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my bad.
Then I've given some tactical advice to the other side. How about the armament of the Predators? They could eventually stop your LRs when equipped with tri-lascannons.
