Title: Bike Charge Range
Post by: Saracenar on February 26, 2012, 01:42:14 AM
Today someone said that Bikes could assault 12". I've always just assaulted 6" because it isn't specified in the Bikes section that they can assault 12", but then my friend pointed out that on page 34, in the first sentence under the Moving Assaulting Models heading, it reads that models make their assault move following the same rules as in the Movement phase. Does this include rules outlined for specific unit types?

I notice that Jump Infantry and Beasts and Cavalry both specify the distance they can assault, but Bikes do not. So can they assault 12"? Have I been missing out on this for as long as I have been using Bikes?

It doesnt add any different assault distance in that piece of text, and if it doesnt add anything its the same as regular infantry on foot can charge.

I assumed that too, but as I've pointed out a different section of the rules may change that. My question is, what do "the same rules as in the Movement Phase" cover? Just the rules outlined on pages 11-14 or also the rules pertaining to the Movement Phase for a particular unit type?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's been shown to me that all unit types follow the rules for Infantry with the exceptions outlined in their respective sections.

Yes you've just found the relevant rule.

It's generally worth considering that the rules to not contain secret Easter eggs. If something seems too good it normally is! ;)

Yeah, I figured as much when everyone started saying, "hey, maybe I should try out some bikes next game..." ;D
