   Heavy:-Defiler.
            -Land Raider.

   Fast:-None.

   Well, on with the report. Eldar got to choose side, point of view is always from Eldar side. First, description of the board (sorry, no pics).
   Description: -Eldar side: In the left corner is a refinery plant (Level 3, impassable), center is a large ruin (Level 2) and far right is another large ruin (Level 2) + some clutter & bushes here and there.
                    -Straight center: There sit an old fortification wall about 15'' long, effectively splitting the table in two.
                    -Chaos side: Far left there is an old ruin (Level 2), in the center, slighty to the left is a big reservoir (Level 3, impassable) and far right is a long stone ridge (Level 3) orientated paralel to the short table edge and there is some clutter & bushes here and there.
   There is no area terrain (apart for rubble on the base of the the 2 impassable ones). :(

   And here we go on the deployment. (18'' from the long table edges)

   -Eldar: Prism and Serpent are hidden behind the Refinery, the 10 Wraithguard + Farseer are straight center in the open, surrounding the Avatar in a loose circle. The Shurican Guardians deploy in the ruin behind the WG. The Starcannon Guardians are in the right corner ruin and the two Wraithlord flank the left of the 10 Wraithguard, in cover behind some vegetation. Finally, the Pathfinders deploy straight center, between the Wraithguard and the fortification wall.

   -Chaos: The Land Raider is deployed slightly behind and right of the old ruin in the left. The Defiler is somewhat hidden behind the large reservoir in the center and the Tank Hunter Terminators are put in cover in some rubble at the reservoir base, facing the fortified wall and the Eldar beyond. The Lord and Lieutnant with their retinue are in reserve for Deep Strike as are the Deamonettes.

   Scout moves: The Pathfinders run to the cover of the fortified wall, about 13'' from the Termies. Eldar get first turn.

+++ELDAR TURN 1+++

   -Casting of Fortune on the 10 WG and Guide on the Star Lord.

   -The Serpent surge 24'', straight toward the Land Raider, preparing for a 2th turn kill. The Prism move 12'' off to the left side of the refinery, sighting the Defiler.
   -Wraithguard/Farseer, Avatar and Shurican Guardians move toward enemy lines. The two Wraithlord reposition themselves and get the Defiler and Chosen Termies in their sights.
   The Pathfinders stay still but the Starcannon Guardians moves slightly out of cover to have a better LOS to the Termies.

   Party time! ;D
   -Combined fire from Starcannons, Scatter Laser & Pathfinders kill 3 Termies. :) and a Krak Missile from the Lance Lord immobilize the Defiler with a glancing hit, denying it LOS from most of the board due to it's positionning (but alas not from the 2 skimmer). The Prism miss. Not a bad shooting phase, overall...

   -No assault phase.

    (:-X: Serpent & Prism facing out 5 anti-tank shots...You would think that kitted out Eldar tank are pretty tough, right?... Wrong)

+++CHAOS TURN 1+++

   -There is no movement at all.  Then, things begin to get bad ???

   -BANG! A salvo of Lascannons from the corrupted LR destroy the Serpent and kill 1 Wraithguard. The squad is entangled behind the wreck.
    BANG-BANG!! Combined fire from the Defiler and Tank Hunting Blastmasters immobilize the FP and destroy the Prism Cannon. There goes the ''best transport'' in the game and the harder-to-kill-than-a-Monolith tank. Yeah... :o

   -There is no assault phase.

+++ELDAR TURN 2+++

   -Farseer fail to cast Fortune with a 11 but succeed to Guide the Starcannon WL.

   -With my mobility down the toilet and the Serpent WG entangled, the 10 Wraithguard/Farseer, the Avatar and the Shurican Guardians move 6'' forward, moving slightly left behind the fortified wall and Pathfinders, toward the Land Raider, still far away.
   Pathfinders stay still and the Starcannon Guardians move their heavy weapon to get LOS on the remnant Termies.
   Both Wraithlords hug cover in the back of the Wraithguard.

   -Combined arms shooting succeed in killing ONE Chosen and the Defiler's Battle Cannon is destroyed, shaking the thing. End of shooting. There is no Assault. Now I'm in trouble. :-[

+++CHAOS TURN 2+++

   -The Lieutnant & Retinue Deep Strike 6'' from the Tank Hunters squad without scatter due to Teleport Homer. 2 squad of Deamonettes are summoned 6'' from the Tank Hunter's remnant squad. One scatter 11'' behind and to the right of the newly arrived Terminators. The second hit the mark a straight 6'' from the summoning Termies and Eldar battle line.
   -The off-mark Deamonettes quickly advance and make level to the Lieutnant's squad left. The on-mark Deamonettes move toward the Wraithguard, a bit left and near the fortified wall. Finally, the Land Raider move 6'' away from the Serpent's wreckage.

   -The LR Lascannons then obliterate what's left of the Prism. The depleted Chosen squad pass priority target test and shoot at the Non-Fortuned 10 Wraithguard, instead of the Pathfinders, who quickly becomes the 9 WG squad.
   The Lieutnant & his unit also pass priority and literally vaporize, bar one, the Starcannon Guardians, the survivor pass his moral check.  :o Amazing the number of shots Sonic Blasters & CO can dish out...

   -The cherry on the cake is the Deamonettes assaulting the Wraithguard, reaching one Guard by about 1/4 inch. :P.  They quickly dispatch 2 with Rending, effectively clearing their kill zone and pile in moves ensue...

+++ELDAR TURN 3+++

   -The Farseer fail AGAIN (11 on 2d6, again) to cast Fortune and is a bit too far to Guide anything)
   -The lone Guardian promptly fail his Last Man Stand and flee to safety.
   -On the left, the entangled Wraithguard finally shove a massive 5'' trough the wreck of their transport toward the LR, ending their move between the old ruin and the new one (AKA: crashed Wave Serpent).
   Both Wraithlords and the Shurican Guardian squad reposition behind the WG locked in close combat, the Guardians pointing their Shurican toward the advancing Deamonettes on the right.
   The mighty Avatar of Khaine move to confront the abhorred deamons tearing the WG to pieces. The Pathfinders decide not to leg it out of charge range of the right Deamonette squad, hoping to finish off the 2 Chosen standing in the rubble.

   -Time for payback! The disentangled WG let go at the Raider but only 2 are in range. Still, they immobilize it with a glancing hit.
   -The Guardians send 1 Deamonette to the warp with a Shurican salvo.
   -An atempt (failed) to get rid once and for all of the Defiler get it's Autocannons destroyed by a Brightlance shot, leaving it with it's Heavy Flamer... Does that thing will ever go down!
   -And the barrage unleashed against the 2 Chosen by the Starcannon WL and the PF does absolutely NO visible effects. (At this point, I was beginning to think myself in a Romero movie, were things refuse to die... ::))

   -There is at last some success when Khaine Incarnate charge and destroy 3 of the foul deamons with His Wailing Doom, sending the remnant to the warp due to demonic instability, but not without them taking a lone WG with them to the realm of Chaos...
   -The WG and Avatar consolidate a mighty 2'', the Guard reforming their battle line.

+++CHAOS TURN 3+++

   -The Chaos Lord with his retinue of Chosen Terminators deepstrike a full 6'' to the right of the Lieutnant's squad. Furthemore, the last squad of screaming Deamonettes are summonned straight were the second one had hit target...

   -The 2 Deamonette squads run toward their respective targets: WG on the center (bypassing the Avatar) and PF behind their wall from the right.

   -The newly arrived Lord and his followers pass priority and fire all they've got to the Guardian unit partially hidden behind the wall and a lone tree and decimate them (including the Cannon crew) to 4 men, but the Avatar inspire them to bravery and they stand their ground.
   -The Lieutnant's Chosen and their 2 surviving comrades in lust pass priority and combine their fire with the LR to bring down 1 WG by the Serpent's wreck. (He could'nt kill more due to bad LOS).

   -Then, the Deamonettes enter the fray. Those on the right struggle to reach the Pathfinders over the wall and only 2 of them get in close combat. Being in cover, the PF strike first but fail to do any damage, and the bloody deamons savagely cut down the 2 in their reach.
   -On the center left, things look bad (for Eldar, at last) when 2 of the cackling deamons engage the WG (about 3/8'' damn it!) and quickly clear their kill zone by dispatching 2. Pfff...
   Piling move ensue, both from the PF and WG. Pile in bring the Spirit Seer and the Farseer in contact with the Deamonettes.

   -Objective: The roll is made and it comes to a Cleanse mission. Corners are objectives, at 462 VP/corner.

+++ELDAR TURN 4+++
   -The Farseer cast Fortune on his WG squad and Guide on the Lance Lord, the Star Lord being a bit too far.

   -The 3 surviving WG near the WS wreck enter the old ruin, guided by their Warlock.
   -The 4 surviving Guardians move behind the mele and left, hoping to put themselves out of sight from the Termies.
   -The Avatar and the 2 WL reposition respectively to engage the deamons assailing the 4 WG/Seer/Farseer and to pour fire on the 2 surviving Chosen (AGAIN), hoping (AGAIN) to wipe them...

   -The 2 Lord combined fire burn to cinder ONE of the Termie, leaving the lone Champion as a survivor. ???
   -On the left side, the 3 WG & Warlock fire at the Raider, destroying... a Lascannon.
And that's it for the shooting phase.
   -The 4 Guardian Fleet nearer to the mele.

   -On the center right, the Deamonettes quickly dispatch all the PF and consolidate 5'' toward the Star Lord.
   -Center left: The Guardians, realising they are in range, join the fray alongside the WG. On the other side, the furious God of War Incarnate charge the foul spawns of Slaanesh and ineptly trip on His own toes, waving His immense blade ineffectually right and left and missing all of His attacks... :P
   -The combined strenght of the WG/Seer/Farseer/Guardians bring down 1 Deamonette while they tear apart 1 more wraith construct... (At this point, I was tearing my hairs out!)
   The fight is a draw and pile in ensue.

+++CHAOS TURN 4+++

   -The lone Chosen, followed by the Lieutnant & CO move left toward the Wraithguard duelling with the LR, getting better LOS.
   -The Lord and his retinue go south and right, going for the south-right corner.
   -The 5 unengaged Deamonettes, slayers of the PF unit, race for the Star Lord.

   -Again, combined fire from the LR, lone Champion and Lieutnant's bodyguards hose the few WG positioned in the old ruin, destroying one construct and killing the Warlock, due to ToF rule from the Lieutnant's unit. (At last, my opponent is gaining a healty respect for the tougher than ever Wraithguard... ;)).
   -The Lord's squad pepper from afar the Lance Lord to no effect.
End of shooting.

   -The 5 'Nettes charge and kill the Star Lord with rending, consolidating 3'' toward the Lance Lord but not reaching it.
   -In the protracted close combat center left: Khaine, shamed by His las display of incompetency land 3 hits on the laughing warp spawns, only to scream in outrage when He is twarted by their INV saves, and begin to stomp the ground with His mighty foot in frustration...
   But this time, the allied might of the WG/Seer/Farseer and Guardians splatter 4 of the things to the ground for no loss in return, sending the remaining one screaming to her master. Yeah!  :D
   Consolidation follows, moving Khaine and the Guard 4''/3'' toward the LR and the Guardians 5'' back toward the Lance Lord and the 5 'Nettes.

+++ELDAR TURN 5+++

   -Farseer cast Fortune on Khaine and Guide on his depleted WG squad.
   -The Lance Lord/2 WG near the LR both pass their wraithsight test.

   -The Avatar position Himself in charge range of either the LR or the solitary Chosen Terminator.
   -The Wraithguard/Farseer advance toward the Raider, getting in range.
   -The Lance Lord & Guardians position themselves to shoot/roast the Deamonettes.
   -The 2 WG in the old ruin stand their position.

   -The 2 WG shoot the LR but miss.
   -Then, the Spirit Seer squad line their Wraithcannons/Singing Spears on the cursed Raider, finally destroying it with a serie of weapon destroyed & immobilized results. Talk of a  long ride to destroy a tank... ;).
   -Shuriken and Flamer fire from the 4 Guardians and Lance Lord are enough to destroy the 5 Snorting Things From The Warp. ::) Good riddance.

   -The Eldar God of War, foregoing his shooting vs the Slaaneshi Champion, rush the fallen Space Marine and hack 4 times at the ancient armor, only to be denied the foul soul by the arcane power (AKA 5++ save) protecting the Chosen of She-Who-Thirst.
   The Champion just keep laughing, unable to land a blow. The Mighty Khaine is litterally steaming... :-[

+++CHAOS TURN 5+++

   -The Lieutnant and his Chosen bodyguards run toward what seems to be a fun bout of partying, meaning there the Champion and Avatar. :)
   -The Mighty Slaanesh Lord with his retinue slowly walk toward his corner objective, bearing their guns on the distant Guardians.
   -And oh! The useless Defiler let go some steam by flaming his surrounding with it's remaining weapon. Whatever...

   -The Dread Chaos Lord show his might by leading his squad by exemple, their combined fire vaporising the surviving Guardians in the distance. See? Too loud music can be bad for your health.

   -The powerfull Lieutnant and his pals rush to join the fray with the Champion/Avatar but only 3 of them come close enough to land a blow. Taking the Wailing Doom with both hands and aiming carefully, the Burning God finally dispatch the laughing Champion while the howling Terminators score a wound on Fuming God.
   The fight is a draw and will go on.

+++ELDAR TURN 6+++

   -The WL test for wraithsight and pass his test. ( The 2 WS Wraithguard are close enough from the Spirit Seer not to test).

   -The Farseer, too far to cast Fortune on his God, see the ineptia of it all and begin to leg it to the left, following the old ruin's edge toward the ruined Serpent, soon followed by the Spirit Seer remnant Guard.
   -The other 2 surviving WG run for the Serpent's wreck, seeking shelter.
   -The Lance Lord stride left to manage a better view of the smoking Defiler behind the reservoir.

   -And lo! Both the Brightlance and Missile Launcher score a hit on the cursed Defiler, getting a weapon destroyed and imobilized result, wrecking the thing! ;D ;D ;D
   Finally. What a laugh. Ha. HA.

   -Now near the wrecked Land Raider (Remember? Destroyed by imobolization and weapon striping? What a laugh. Ha. HA.). The Powerfull and Almighty Khaine, still holding His blade in both hands, succeed in inflicting a wound upon the Lieutnant but is buried under a flurry of chainfist and power weapon attacks. Yuck!  :o
   -The Chosen Termies consolidate 3'' toward the Spirit Seer squad they can see over the old ruin's corner.

+++CHAOS TURN 6+++

   -The Lord & Retinue take the south right corner, while the wounded Lieutnant & CO move toward the Wraithguard moving along the old ruin, discovering with evident glee that their target his within charge range. Bah.

   -Lining their sights, the Lord and Friends shoot at the distant WL but fail to accomplish anything. On the left corner, the Chosen reach the Spirit Seer squad and proceed to exterminate them utterly...

    -This last act end, the game with the Wraithlord holding the south left corner, the Chaos Lord with his bodyguard holding the south right and the Lieutnant holding the north left, both the Farseer and surviving Wraithguard unable to contest the objective.

---Lustwing: 2 369 VP, including 2 corners.
---Silver Ghosts: 1 478 VP, including 1 corner.
---Difference of: 891 VP.
---Result: Crushing Victory for Slaanesh!

+++DEBRIEFING+++

   Well, what can I say... He was a bit more lucky than I was, which should be expected when facing Chaos. :P
   On the other hand he made few errors (coming to mind: He should have moved his LR immediately after the Serpent's crash) where I made more:
 1. Should have kept back, shooting him from afar, well out of Deamon Bomb range.
 2. Once imobilized and Battle Cannon destroyed, I should have stopped shooting the Defiler.
 3. I didn't follow the plan: Use the Guardians as screen to prevent a charge VS my Wraithguard. There, I utterly failed with my plan and in the end it cost me the game, or at last a draw.
 4. And foremost, the next time I send for a sacrificial Youg King to wake the Avatar of Kaela Mensha Khaine, I WILL assure myself that the warrior is NOT a former follower of the Bufoon Path... ::)

It was a good game overall.

Both of you had decent unit selection. You got 3 monstrous creatures, and 1 holofielded skimmer and he's got daemonettes and terminators.

I don't think the game solely depended upon luck. Strategy played a huge role in this game.

You walked right into a daemon bomb, charged straight into slaanesh daemons, and ended up losing the game for it, seriously, the best way to  kill slaanesh daemons isn't charging your whole army at them, but to shoot them up at range.

You did have some awful rolling though, like the avatar did extremely poorly, and him keeping making those invulnerable saves.

He also rolled pretty crappily in some areas, I expected slaanesh daemons with all their rending to kill more than 1-2 wraithguard a turn, but apparently he's lacking in rolling 6's.

I think the key reason you lost isn't simply due to luck.
The slaanesh daemons are what does the most damage in his army, not the defiler, or the landraider. You spent most of your time trying (and failing) to kill that defiler and landraider, allowing slaanesh daemons to run amok in your lines. You did roll somewhat poorly, but with better target selection, you might have drawn the game. But losing so many units to rending ended up costing you the game.
When you have fought over 1000 battles, all you see is death

   Oh, I realise I DID walked into his deamon bomb. The only excuse I have is that the last time I saw one is some 5-6 years ago, so I underestimated it. And then it was too late...  :-[

I think the key reason you lost isn't simply due to luck.

   For rending he did roll average, the low kills is because my WG and PF were largely spaced (best way that I found to keep him from doing me massive damage in CC from his small units) and he had crappy kill zones due to extreme range charge. :). I DID try to keep them just out of charge range but failed in that regard, and I've been sorry for that.

   And no, you're right, the game wasn't won only on luck. He played well and myself made mistakes that cost me the game, or rather a draw due to my slightly below average/his slightly over average rolling...

   The slaanesh daemons are what does the most damage in his army, not the defiler, or the landraider.    Agreed, the 270 pts Deamonettes killed about 1/3 of my force by themselves  :o
For target selection, I was somewhat limited by the catastrophic first turn loss of my 2 tanks with their mobile/long range AP2 firepower.
   And I never had a target oportunity VS the deamons until the very end, as they were constantly in CC with some of my units.
   But I SHOULD have ignored the LR and Defiler and poured all I had on the Termies. Had they been dead on the end of my 2nd turn, he would have had difficulty to summon the deamons with no Icon on table and his Termies still in Deep Strike.
   And with no Teleport Homer, it would have been a LOT riskier for his Termies to Deep Strike in optimum summoning range...

   Anyway, as soon I have my re-match, I'll post the bat-rep. And this time, I'll have better mobility and CC capabilities in the form of Shinning Spears and Harlies.
   Oh, and I drop the Guardians and the Avatar and take the boring ubiquitous Spear Autarch as Leader. ;D

Something else hurt you Starr. You had pretty expensive units. Hence lowing your model count, and your scoring units.
With a little bad luck, and any mistakes you made were compounded by that.
I love wraithguard. However they are expensive, and seriously cut into your points.

I like your list don't get me wrong. That being said, it is a pretty unforgiving list. You make a mistake, and have some bad luck, you are more than likely in trouble.

You lost both vehicles in turn 1. Not a good start. Especially considering what you killed.
If that wouldn't have happened, and you would have gotten to fire them again, things might have gone a little bit differently for you.

His turn 2 getting to assault your main wg unit, was also not a good thing for you at all.
They really needed to at least fire their gun 1st. A mere 1/4 inch, man what rotten luck there.  You at least gave a good account of trying to fight back, and  well, if you don't make rolls when they are needed there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. The Avatar rolled real bad man. He could have been a lot better help.

You at least learned what not to do. Anyway good luck on your future battles man.
