For those who don't get the Forge World newsletter:

Personally, I'm not that convinced I like it.  There's good parts and bad ones...  I guess it'll grow on me.

i heard it costs 400-500$ (canadian) also i think it was made of alot of land raider parts.  i saw pics of it like 2 months ago on dakkadakka.com.  since i dont play SM, and i dont like VDR i would never think of purchasing it, but that would be sweet to have one on the table.

This is obviously part of an ongoing bet in GW to see how god-aweful they can make an imperial model look and still have people buy it.

i dunno, IG stuff looks weird and boxy cuz they dont have the smarts to make it look cool, unlike the lovley eldar stuff.

it doesn't look that bad though, there are better, but what can ya do.

$640US? Thats cute. The old one (which looked about 30 times batter) was only $650.

Meanwhile you could always scratch build one for cost of bits, plasticard, and wood... Which I would guess would be. I can't imagine it could look much worse and you'd save $500.

Yeah but that one made of entirely metal was a be-atch and a half to build.............. .it did look better though.  To top that off it weighed about 15 kilos, which was pretty heavy.

For the $640 US Forgeworld better have done a fabulous f---ing job on it.  I buy and build resin models all of the time.  The FW waveserpents I got from forgeworld reminded me of cheap recasts (which is a low grade copy for all you non resin hounds).

I wish that GW would take some of the more widely used kits away from forgeworld and just produce them entirely in plastic.  It's a be-atch to have to pay $50 for a basic transport (waveserpent) and see all the good detail screwed up by bad casting.  And then have to do all of the repair work, then hassle with poorly matching pieces.  Not like every eldar player wouldn't buy two of 'em.

It looks better in person... believe me, these pictures do not do any justice to the detailing on the armor and even inside the cargo bay. That said the Ultramarine paint scheme is not the best for showing details at all... it would have been better with dark angels or something like that but this one was painted for the mega battle between the ultramarines and the necrons... and i believe the actaual price for this thing is 400 dollars american not 600

I actuaky think that http://www.dnai.com/~patten/thawk.htm is a better one. Then again its custom made, fits like 30 SM and a rhion, and has alot of detail. It says if you wana but one like thats its a 4 digit number...:p
