Apoc Bundles
« on: June 16, 2019, 07:11:32 PM »
So looks like GW is doing army bundles to get people ready for Apoc...

Most of these boxsets look like a good way to start a 40k army, not so much to expand your army into an Apoc level match... so I guess handy if you want to start a new army.

No real word on prices yet, but pre-order should be up this weekend.

Hmm, mighty tempted by that Chaos Space Marine Battalion box. I know the marines have some problems, but I'm still tempted!

If I didn't already have 20 wraithguard, the Eldar Vanguard bundle would be a great purchase. I wonder what the prices will be on these?

Just curious, but how would you configure them if you were buying them for the first time with the current codex? I still love the idea of 5-10 Wraithguard with Axes and Scattershields, they are costy, but can they still be considered worth it?

I've always wanted a craftworld eldar force, but I feel with the changes made to 8th edition, a lot of units that I think are cool aren't too hot right now, lol. Mainly aspect warriors in general. And wraithguard seem like they're still very expensive points wise.

They are not point efficient compared to other options, which is why they do not appear in many of the top lists. Great fun is you play someone that doesn't tweak their lists.

Wraith constructs yoyo, between godly and meh depending on the edition, so I would learn towards building a unit of each, but magnatise one ranged and one CC. This will let you field a wave full of them.

Wraith units are good but not competitively efficient. Simple as that.

I think for melee I'd prefer the swords to the axes, and try to spend command points via the Wraith Host specialist detachment to make up for the durability issues. When run shooty Wraithguard, I really like the D-Scythes. They're a bit more expensive and a bit shorter ranged, but they're great against just about anything, and you can Advance and fire them without missing out on any accuracy to make up for the range issues. 5 D-Scythe Wraithguard in a Wave Serpent is fun and will shred heavy infantry and put good damage on light tanks.

As said, these are not top tier units this edition, but I find them fun.
