Where's these shoulder pads from?
« on: January 9, 2010, 08:41:30 AM »
Here's a link to just one example I've seen recently...
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=4900041a

It's the Worlf Lord at the bottom.

I've seen those pads on several minis and there and I think they're pretty slick.  Anyone know where these come from?

Thankies ahead of time  ;D

Looks like their are conversions to me. There is no kits that sell shoulder pads like that. Shouldn't be too hard to replicated with plasticard and some greenstuff. If you mean the shoulder to the left of the picture. The one on the right looks vaguely chaos-like with the eye of horus-thing on it. But it's hard to say, with the wolf pelt over it.

Yeah, the non-standard one on the left.

I suppose you're right, it would be pretty easy to make something like that with plasticard.  I was more curious as to how/why so many people are using it too (I think I saw a thread with a buncha SMs/CSMs with that pad on another forum).  Would be cool to know where so many got the idea though (if anyone knows) :D

A lot of pictures of pre-Heresy terminators use that style shoulder pad, pretty easy to copy and looks quite cool.

That has yielded a great tutorial/blog on making these fine looking shoulder pads:
http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2009/01/pre-heresy-terminator-shoulder-pads.html

Very nice page indeed!  There's some links to pre-made templates too!  Oh so fancy!   ;D  ;D  ;D

Edit: Found another page that makes Termy pads outta cardboard:
