Fellow Commanders:
I have recently been given the role of securing one of our outposts in the Damocles Gulf. Ork raids have become increasingly common. I have already lost a full recon detail to guerilla fighters. Casualties are high and I fear the Orks are preparing for a major offensive. Support from other worlds is currently impossible. I have rallied together the local Gue’vesa militia. Men and ammunition are sparse; the situation is grim. Tactical advice needed. Commander SeerMonki, for the greater good.

- Shas’el – armed with plasma rifle, burst cannon, flamer and hardwired multi-tracker. 92pts

- 12 Kroot + 6 Hounds – Includes Shaper and improved armor/leadership. Also counts a Fast Attack. 146pts

I thought it would be fun to try and create a Tau army with a much different feel to the mechanized hunter cadre I am currently working on. I like armies with fluff behind them as I think they’re more fun to both play with and against as compare to a power gaming army. This here is more of a brain child then an army I am likely to build anytime soon, but any advice/comments are welcome.  I am especially interested in knowing if other commanders have taken our human allies and how they are best used.

Well, I was thinking of removing the shapers from the Kroot squads along with the improved armor.  Would save me roughly 66 points I think and allow the Kroot to make sweeping assaults/advance or whatever they're called instead of just consolodating (spelling?).  Also thinking of swapping the 'el's plasma rifle for a fusion blaster, more immediate stopping power and fits the range of the suit better, but I don't know.

I could use the points saved from the shapers to buy  a small six man Firewarrior squad....gotta think about it though.

And no thoughts on the Gue'vesa huh?  I've heard they can be a nasty suprise when given emp's but if I did that it would really limit their numbers....and how often would I get to use them? ???

hey seermonki if i was u i wouldnt use so many kroot against orcs u wanna stay as far away as u can and u might be best dropping kroot and put more fire warriors and i hope u did;nt glue the flamers missle pods work 100% better then flamers and i think a gun drone squad would not do to bad and if possiable get a devilfish you never wanna stay still with fire warriors or the orks will get close to quick and your over when that happens mate also when u hit orks with pulse rifiles they drop they have no save against them :).

Thanks for the advice, I'm currently working on a mechanized hunter cadre, lots of devilfishies and gundrones and so forth.  This list here was more of a crazy idea I had one night, so no I haven't even started putting it together.
I guess I have some things to think about, though in this case, for this particular list I wanted a more in your face feel so I think I'm going to stick with the flamers, hehe.
Thanks again for the advice!  Anyone have any experience with nutty flamer equiped crisis suits?

Seermonki u might want to try farsight hes more in the face guy and in combat hes dam good 2 body guards plasma and flamer boy thay can deal a hell lot of ass kicking also farsight in close combat is mad
i once killed a super chaos daemon prince but farsight die along with him but hay i one the game that whats maters.

Hey thanks for the welcome, I've lurked around for a while and thought it was about time I finally showed myself. 
I actually had Farsight in mind when I was making up the list, but a Farsight army feels like it has too many restrictions, can't take Kroot for example.  What I would really love to see is an alternate list, with some special rules or something for a Farsight conclave in chapter approved.  Like Farsight Tau Firewarriors able to take all carbine squads.  I feel like the quick little mention at the back of the Tau codex just didn't do it justice. 
After all, Imperial Guard and Space Marines get alternate lists all the time, think of all the seperate marine chapters and their unique rules.  I'm not asking for anything along the lines of a doctrines thing, or even a sept craft world type thing, just a more fleshed out list for Farsight.  But from what I've heard it might be a long time before it, or if it, ever happens.
Do you tend to field a Farsight army?  How's your experience with it been?

get close enough for flamers... and the orks will eat you. your better off with Missle pods.  also try more FWs with pulse riffles.  i have found they hurt... ALOT
Chain swords are awesome.  The only way would be cooler is if they had tits and were on fire.

I play farsight all time i find him fun hard some times at best but thats whats fun about farsight. It dose look a bit gay farsight list not having all kroot, gun drone squards, and the othere alot but hay it's all about having a dam hard time wining and boy it can get hard VS good vet player's (never beat a neco army yet :'() but i think you might want try the main tau army frist mate come to think of it i have never play main tau to lol :P.


 Frgsinwntr right keep as far away combat as you can but if it ever come's down it all way use farsight in combat hes awsome.

Thanks for the tips.  I'll definately stay with the main Tau list for a long while, still building up my mechanized cadre anway.  Hopefully by the time I'm ready to try out farsight he'll have a more extended set of rules.
