Need input: list of terms and abbrev. for the forums
« on: November 26, 2002, 03:51:23 PM »
Heya all,

I am compiling a list of terms and abbreviations commonly used on these forums for the newcomers. Sometimes you guys can be pretty hard to understand!

I once saw this: "The rules for the WB are in the BBB."

Meaning: the rules for the witchblade are in the big black book (the rulebook). Took me 2 weeks before I understood what the BBB was when I first started hanging around here.

Enough confusion!

Everyone reply to this message with the miscellanious terms I forgot and that are commonly used on the different eldaronline and 40k.ca boards.

Here is what I have so far after a few minutes of thinking:

BBB : The Big Black Book, the rulebook for Warhammer 40000 3rd edition
WS : Wave Serpent OR Warp Spiders
Hvy : heavy
SM : Space Marines
CSM : Chaos Space Marines
SMurf : a demeaning name for Space Marines
Nids : Tyranids
IG : Imperial Guards
shuricat : shuriken catapult
shurican : shuriken cannon
SC : starcannon
BL : brightlance
BA : Blood Angels
DA : Dark Angels
BT : Black Templars
DE : Dark Eldars
CA : Chapter Approved (a book with rules clarifications)
IMHO : In my humble opinion
RT : Rogue Trader
w/ : with
ML : missile launcher
EML : eldar missile launcher
WL : Wraithlord
WG : Wraithguard
Harlie : Harlequin
Termie : Terminators
AC : autocannon
PF : power fist
CCW : close combat weapon
BP : bolt pistol
shuripist: shuriken pistol
WB : witchblade
SP : singing spear
There's no Right or Wrong
There's only Fun and Boring

When it comes to saves, Invulnerable ones are often written with a double "+"

"The Shadow Fields gives the wearer a 2++ save"
"United we stand; divided we fall; together we are One"

Since everyone seems to make such nice "Win Draw Losses" statistics in their signature, I think I'll do that as well...these stats, for some reason, do not include all the games I played earlier and can't remember the outcome of (nor do they include those I can remember the outcome of, as this would mean a bit high score on the win side)

Wins     Draws     Losses
  1             1             1
