List Building Competition: 1,750 Court of the Young King

Plan.

Rangers deploy close to enemy in cover, to force them to be shot at.

Dire avengers act as screen for heroes. None of the characters can be touched by shooting, unless all the infantry are dead. If the infantry are dead, I'd cycle different characters to be the closest target to spread wounds around. Asurman gives everyone a 5++ who doesn't already have one.

List.

Battalion Detachment

Supreme Command

Asurman (warlord)

Baharoth

Fugean

Jain Zar

Khandaras

7 Command points.

You could run this same army as 2 Battalions, 1 Supreme Command instead of 1 Battalion, 1 Supreme Command, and you'd get 10 CP instead of 7. You can do this without changing any of your units. Like so:

--Battalion Detachment--

Maugan Ra

Dire Avengers x5
2x 5 Rangers

--Battalion--
Asurman (warlord)
Baharoth

Dire Avengers x5
2x 5 Rangers

--Supreme Command--
Fuegan
Jain Zar
Khandaras

That's true. Lets pretend that's the list now.

Very fun list.

Do you think you'd win many games?

Seems light on mobility, anti-tank, firepower and wounds.

Would love to see how it plays, though.

Really cool build. I think it can work to some degree.

When really trying to get it working a little bit better I would add a Serpent. Most of the PLs need to get close and will waste a lot of time walking. I understand that it's not as cool as without but I believe it could be an improvement.

Shooting characters is super hard to do, so I'm not too worried about them closing in. I can basically dictate how my opponents shooting goes, and if I get a deepstrike/infiltrating character in combat, that can pretty much stop the rest form being shot.

Adding in a serpent adds in more things which can be shot. Rather have a bunch of random chaff to force my opponent to shoot them.
