I think that the Sisters of Battle are just space marines that look different.  I know they have more flamers and meltas, but any space marine chapter could arm themselves like that, right?

The sisters of battle are played QUITE differently from Spacemarines. And as for having the same equipment...heck they both are elite Imperial forces.

For a modern reference it would be like saying that US Navy SEALs are the same as Delta Force.

I think the best way to think about them is IG with Bolters and Power Armour.  also better equipment but they are still miles away from SM in context and history.

Like Tobab said don't compare to seperate divisions of the military because you prbably piss one if not both off

Agreed with all: the Sisters of Battle are very different.

Not only is their stat line different, but their style of play is too. A SOB army will rarely be successful by sitting back and shooting, something that most Space Marines armys can do very well. To be effective, SOBs must be up in the face of their enemies, cleansing their souls with the Holy Flames of the Emperor.

...but they make great slaves for the Dark Gods. =)

they aren't, 'cause sisters are better.

they have better shooting, cause 30pts of marines gives you 1 1/3 hits, but 1.5 with sisters.  The jetpackers have equal ws, artificially equal bs (re-rolls), the potential for better morale and combat skill with Acts, and I think they now get withdraw too.  space marines don't have squads which take non-heavy special weapons (dominions).  They definitely don't get retributionists
