Necrons are going to be my new army for 8th ed. I have very little experience playing with or against them from previous editions, so any advice gratefully received.
I'm particularly unsure about the HQ units.

Looks like a solid list! The only advice I'd give, is you really want some sort of cryptek in the list to enhance Reanimation Protocols. Otherwise, you have lots of options for most things. Keep the C'tan hidden behind units, as he is a character who cannot be shot if it's not the closest target.

I'd swap the barge for a Cryptek and some extra wraiths. Otherwise a good all around list.

Thanks, guys -good to know I'm on the right track.
Yeah Cryptek does look like a better option -jut a shame I don't own one (yet).
Upcoming birthday and potential campaign victory prize should fix that.
Switching from the Barge to Cryptek only gets me enough points for 1 extra Wraith and a couple of Warriors. Still worth it though, I think.

Immortals with Gauss blasters are fantastic. Use them with the grand illusion C'tan rule to smash stuff up big time.
Wraith's I found underwhelming, but I ran them in a squad of 3.

Ooh good point about immortals. I can afford to get a squad of 8 in with minor tweaks.
ref the wraiths: I feel I need an assault squad in there, I could swap 4 wraith for 5 Lychguard with Warscythes -Do you think that would work better?

I think wraiths are valid for tying things up. They are fast, and immune to ap on weapons, which is a big deal. I played against them, and were a huge threat, just because it was hard to deal with them.
Their damage output isn't the most exciting, but I think that's an okay trade off.
