Paint-on primer
« on: January 26, 2009, 08:45:42 AM »
Hey Guys!

Quick question:  do any of the experienced painters out there recommend painting on a base coat of Skull White or Chaos Black instead of using the spray primer?

Are there any paint-on base coats that aren't GW-related anyone can recommend?

I used to paint my models chaos black by hand, but it got tolo time-consuming.  I also used a Testor's brush-on primer on metal models before I switched to spray, but overall I do prefer spray over brush.  As long as you spray properly, you get a good coat quickly that dries nicely

Hey Nubis!

What company sells black gesso?  I live in Canada so I hope the brand is international.

I use Golden Acrylic, but I hear Liquitex is good too.

I usually paint straight off primer (usually white).

I will do both. I prime spray black, then the areas that I missed I go back over with a quick dash of watered down black, but not to watery.
I don't process the stuff in my head I just regurgitate it!
