Daemon Prince Wing Conversions[Pics]
« on: February 4, 2008, 03:56:10 AM »
Alright, so my Daemon Prince had a little bit of a make-over. He was using Balrog wings, and those can't be used in GW tournaments if they're recognized.

After green-stuffing some Nurgle marks and scrapes onto the wings, cutting off some of the defining features, such as the talons, I realized that that wasn't going to cut it. So, I took a saudering Iron to it.

RESULTS:

Before:

After:

Close ups:

Anyways, that was the most fun conversion I've EVER done. That, and the fact that I think they'll pass as different wings.

Oh, and here's a slideshow that kinda shows what I've done compared to what it was:

The work you've done is good, but I just cannot ever see past how rediculous dragon wings look attatched to demon princes...

Nicely done I like the work you did with the iron, It looks really slick and I think you'll be ok with the whole recognition thing.

Very, very, very Nurglrific.

Nicely done, just enough nurglfying so it doesn't look unbalanced.

Oh man, I can't wait til I get to my Dp's wings...  ;)

My 7 Cents.

Yeah, as soon as I get a second pair of wings, I'll be putting them on my other Daemon Prince, which is on a CIRCLE base, which is nice. can't wait to see what you do to yours, I'm sure it'll be insane.

Anyways, thanks everyone. I'll be putting more pictures up in here when I finish my other one.

wow them wings look fantastic, they actually look like he could get some lift across a battlefield on them. i know some people may think they look oversized, but i like the scale of them. they look like they can glide actually...  :)

great job, and your painting skills certainly compliment a great model. that nurgle prince can look an absolute joke if taken up by a novice painter, but you really do do it justice!

great job,

Thanks guys.

I actually just finished my other one, although the wings are MUCH smaller. Big enough where they look normal, but nothing nearly like this. Also, no GS on the wings.

I'll edit this post as soon as I get some pictures ready.

Presumably it involves praying.  Praying hard.

Very nicely done, OrionKale.  It's a great effect.  Balrog wings typically make me think of Bloodthirsters, but no one will be making that mistake with your wings.

Bloodthirsters tend to make me think of Balrogs, in that they are damn near identical, but hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

So far for transporting, I've got it on my dashboard, and make sure to drive VERY carefully. xD

And yes, praying. Praying hard.

We just treat it by the rules.

It's blocked by size 3 Terrain, not by size 2 Terrain. The only problem I'm having is hiding this beast until he can get close enough to do some damage. But, this base will make sure the model has no opportunity to fall over.
