Hive Fleet Leviathan with new foundations and washes
« on: May 26, 2009, 03:21:26 PM »
I'm starting painting my nid force and I like the Leviathan colour scheme. I've painted up some test minis using the how to from the codex, but I realised I may be missing a better technique as the codex was written before the new paint range.

Anyone painted Leviathan nids with the new paints? I'm going to try the purple wash in place of watered down Liche purple, but is there a better base for the skin other than bleached bone highlighted up to white?

I always preferred zombie flesh tone instead of bleached one. It makes the model somewhat more lively then the bleached bone does.

Da Pittman is your man. He knows everything there is to know about painting tyranids. I would ask him.

I like his stuff, but he doesn't work with the leviathan colour scheme does he?

Tried the purple wash, and it looks no different from watered liche purple (perhaps a little softer), but is easier and faster to work with.

Yep, this is been my experience with the GW washes as well: easier and faster.  But they are also more expensive as the inks would go a whole lot further, whereas the washes come pre-diluted
