Right lads!

The last tournament was a great success, and g00gle5 surprise objectives on the day really went down well! So, without further delay, lets get some more detailed informaiton out about the 10th Tournament!!!

When/where is it?:
so, the 10th tournament will be held on:

Sunday 21st August 2011
There are 30 gamer places!!!

Due to being messed around at the last minute by the Landlord, there has been a changed to the originally anounced venue. Bracknell Forest Gamers will continue with the organisation of the event but it will take place at Triple Helix Wargames . Please note that the new venue allows for an increased capacity so we are proud to announce that there are now 30 gamer places!

EVENT PACK
www.triplehelixwargames.co.uk

PLEASE NOTE THAT AS BFG ARE HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH THEIR CURRENT ISP - THE PACK CAN ALSO BE FOUND HERE

Unit 3 Commerce Business Centre
Commerce Close
West Wilts Trading Estate
Westbury
Wiltshire
BA13 4LS

How to get there by car
Triple Helix is just a 5 minute drive from the A350 between Trowbridge and Westbury and only a 35 minute drive from Junction 17 of the M4.

To reach them by car coming from the North come off the M4 at junction 17 and head south on the A350 towards Chippenham. Follow the A350, signposted to Poole all the way until you pass a set of traffic lights in the village of West Ashton.

Follow the A350 down the hill towards Hawkeridge and Westbury. At the mini roundabout with the petrol station on go straight over. Go under the railway bridge and at the roundabout take the first exit. Follow this road for approx 1 mile. Turn right into the West Wilts Trading Estate. Take the first left into Commerce Close and immediately right into the car parking area. Triple Helix is the third building on the right hand side.

How to get there by train/bus
Westbury is a mainline station on the London Paddington to Exeter route, stopping at Reading, Newbury and Taunton. It is also on the mainline between Cardiff and Portsmouth stopping at Southampton, Salisbury and Bath.

Triple Helix is an 1 hour, 20 minute train journey from London and only 20 minutes from Bath. If you are coming at the weekend and may need to wait a while for a bus (we can arrange to pick people up from the station if needed)!

By bus the 264/265 which will drop you a 1 minute walk from the front door. This runs between Bath and Warminster hourly during the week and every 2 hours on the weekend. The bus also runs direct from Westbury train station.

What time?:
We are going to be looking for an early start... the earlier we start, the better! Don't worry, you will be able to grab hold of some coffee from the canteen there, and if travelling far then you can also consider overnight arrangements.

8:30 - 6:30pm.

We are allowing a little more time this year in order to help avoid having to rush any games and take some of the stress out of the day!

How much?:
As before, we are offering an incentive to pre-book tickets and secure your place. Tickets will be open to forum members to pre-buy. After the pre-buy time, tickets will be available to non-forum members at a standard cost.

TICKET PRICE
£12 - For advance tickets purchased up until August 2011
£15 - for tickets bought in August (including tickets sold at the door on the day)

Tickets may be available to buy on the day, but will operate on a first come first serve basis.

Paypal is via:  club@bfgclub.org.uk

If booking please put on the Paypal for each ticker
Forum Name
Real Name
Army

If you are a BFG regular, or will be seeing MacVurrich then you can pay him direct with cash. Additionally, any remaining tickets on sale on the day can be bought at the door with cash.

If you would like to pay by another method (such as direct transfer or cheque) then please contact us beforehand.

REFUNDS: Policy TBC

In the past, if you required a refund and this was 1 month prior to the event then you would be refunded your ticket price (minus any Paypal handling charges).
Less than one month notice and you would get 50% of your ticket price unless a reservist was willing to take your ticket in your stead.
Less than two weeks would result in no refund (50% if a reservist was found).

If we have a reserve list with people waiting to buy up tickets then we will make arrangements to refund what we can as highlighted above once your place has been booked by someone else.

Any questions, just ask.

What will you need?:
  • a full 1750pt army
  • your army list
  • dice & templates
  • measuring tape
  • glue (for field repairs)
  • objective markers (for missions)
  • money for lunch / packed lunch
  • a good sense of humour!
  • pen and paper (to keep track of points etc)
  • a camera, to document the carnage (optional!)

The games:
We will hopefully get 4x games in over the day.

The format for these will be confirmed in a tournament pack which is available to download from the BFG website. See the link above. This pack will also detail all the games and rules etc.

The armies:
  • your armies will need to be 1750pts
  • non-codex print armies, such as armoured company / kroot mercenaries are of course allowed! in all cases you MUST bring ALL the relevant rules in order to play with that army
  • forge world IS allowed. you may use anything without structure or mass points as part of your army abiding by the forgeworld rules, and of course, you must bring those rules with you. if you wish to use a forge world army list (as opposed to just adding in units) then you may do so
  • in all cases, the most up to date rules are to be used. This includes the Forge World Imperial Armour Apocalypse book.
  • the forge world flyer rules will be used (not those from Apocalypse).
  • the only exception is that, as per Apocalypse, Pintle Mounted Weapons will count as AA (anti-aircraft weapons) - this is to give some armies a fighting chance against flyers.
  • your army does not need to be painted, but additional points will be awarded to those that are
  • all armies and units must be "official", no VDR units will be used nor armies without official publications (codeces or otherwise). If you are unsure about your army then ask here first!

please look through the above, its all subject to change according to our concensus.

We will be using the 5th Edition 40k rules at this tournament.

the prizes:
as before there are no real prizes up for grabs some nice certificates!

Gold
Silver
Bronze

Best Army

if we want some more then put forward your ideas!!

the winner will be decided throughout the course of the tournament... the scoring of which will be decided through an overly complicated and gizmotronic spread sheet developed by the devil himself.

Nearest Hotels
As mentioned, because of the early start some of you may want to consider overnight accomodation for the day before. The following are recommended on the Triple Helix Wargames website;

The Garden Hotel
Cedar Hotel
Lopes Arms Hotel

And a number of B&Bs recommended by Triple Helix:

The Old Pottery
Redwood Lodge
Crossways Guest House
Angel Cottage

Whos coming?

At the moment we are taking names for the interest list. As soon as tickets become open for sale we will first offer them to those on that list. Tickets will become available in the near future once we can confirm all details. Stay tuned

First

This is a somewhat hesitant reserve, because we're going away for a month this summer and we haven't booked tickets home yet. However, all things being equal, I shall make it.

Hi,

I'm up for this again.

I'll let my mates who came last year know about this, and get them to confirm whether they want to come.

Tentative yes from me. Depends on whether I have real life to get in the way

However, everything about Tarrin is unfair and should be sanctioned with extreme prejudice.

The Globals have issued a 2:1 ruling that yes, yes everything about Tarrin is indeed unfair. We have also been sullied merely by contemplating this.

STOP PRESS!

Due to an unforseen screwing over it will be necessary to alter the date and venue.

We are looking to change the date to the 13th AUGUST (saturday before). The 27th AUGUST (saturday after) is also a potential possibility if the majority would prefer that... but speak now or forever hold your peace.

The new venue is looking like it will be "Triple Helix Wargames", near Bath (I hear much rejoicing from the Bristolonians!)

MORE DETAILS AND CONFIRMATIONS WILL FOLLOW

Right well after researching I have to say I'd prefer the later date (27th Aug) as that wedding I mentioned is on the 13th...... :(

Venue change seems to be good though which is something

[bias]Plus it'll give people 2 extra weeks of painting time [/bias]
