Lia-Isha Exodite world (+ Pirate Fleet Isha)
« on: March 10, 2006, 12:09:45 AM »
Hey.

I know this is a lot of reading, and that no one wants to read this whole thing. But incase someone is bored and wants to kill a few minutes maybe this could help.
:)

Lia-Isha
(Again-Isha)

To understand the newly formed Exodite world Lia-Isha you must first understand who are her inhabitants.
Lia-Isha was formed by the union of the wandering Pirate Fleet Isha, the inhabitants of the Exodite world Tial-Angau who chose to flee instead of joining the Tau Empire, and a number of other Exodites and Outcasts who wished to join them in the hopes of building a better home and way of life for themselves.

Note: See each groups fluff.

Origins of Lia-Isha

Lia-Isha was formed when these three groups were brought together by a rogue harlequin named Turgon Elanessë. He was raised among a harlequin troupe, and is the first son of harlequins Laconfir and Elsek Elanessë. Among his former troupe he was well known for his gifted skills both on stage, and on the fields of battle. Most believed that he would eventually break off and form his own troupe when the time came, but they were all surprised when he chose to leave the troupe and the harlequin’s way of life.

After he left Turgon began to wander among the different Eldar kins. He never stayed too long in one place, but often made allies wherever he went. He even traveled through the dark streets of Commorragh, and into the Kabal once ruled by his father. Occasionally he would also travel among any alien worlds which would welcome him. While among those worlds he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with the aliens he encountered, and learning much from them.

During his travels he grow quite fond of the exodites, and eventually found himself spending most of his time among them. He had also made strong ties with those aboard the pirate fleet Isha, and earned the trust of it’s council.

When an Iolaran messenger approached him with a message from Tial-Angau he quickly knew what to do. Bringing together the council from Isha, the Tau, Iolar and the other tribes from Tial-Angau he was able to bring about a peaceful solution to their conflict, and brought about the creation of Lia-Isha.

Note: Lia-Isha is basically the closure to all my armies. It unites every army I have fluff wise. It starts with Laconfir as a guardian aboard a craftworld tormented by Slaanesh. Laconfir then finds himself among the dark kin on Commorragh where he quickly learns their ways, and quickly reaches the level of Archon. After that he is offered a chance to become a harlequin, and  agrees while convincing them to take his incubi master as well (Elsek). From there his son becomes a Baron after leaving the troupe, and unites my tau planet and my pirate fleet to create Lia-Isha.

My armies’ genealogy:

Fleet Isha:

Fleet Isha is an enduring fleet of Eldar pirates that fled from the Fall, but lacked a Craftworld to rally around. Unlike most pirates they have not become mere mercenaries, or a band of thugs and cutthroats, but have instead become a sort of wandering tribe.

After The Fall they continued to move away from the eye of terror. They traveled to places they believed other survivors might be, and took aboard many Eldar. They also united with other ships that had escaped the fall hoping to find safety in numbers.

Over time their population grew, and they occasionally built, bought, or even stole new ships to accommodate their clan. At the moment their fleet is equal in both power and strength to any craftworld’s, and they have a number of ships which they have converted to specialize in things such as agriculture, and the manufacturing of necessities.

A few of these ships are still fitted with the equipment to make arcane weapons, equipment, and items such as blast weapons which date back to the fall. Although these items are still powerful, obtaining the materials to build them is often a burden , so they prefer to use the items they gain from their raids, contracts, and trades instead. In spite of this they occasionally do manufacture these items if they happen to come across  the materials needed in one of their raids, and they have a complete knowledge of how to work and repair these ancient pieces of technology.

Aboard the agricultural ships they have installed Wraithbone skeletons to preserve their dead. These work as miniature Infinity Circuits giving the souls of the dead a safe place to rest. These skeletons lay uncovered inside their ships allowing them to travel among the many fields of crops and herds of animals through the ships walls, and special columns built for them. As the crews work aboard these ships they can feel their souls ever present, giving them comfort.

Numbers wise the fleet is capable of sending an armada of ships equal to three of a craftworld’s biggest and best armed fleets. They can do this while leaving their bigger agricultural and production ships with a well sized force of ships for protection, and enough crew members to comfortably run all the ships incase things go terribly wrong.

The crew and people of Fleet Isha:

The eldar of this fleet did not choose to take on paths, but instead took on a way of life somewhere between the craftworld eldar and the Exodites. They are very hard workers who continually maintain their ships, and assist aboard the agriculture and productions ships. Because of this their minds have become strong, and they are able to live a much freer life than those aboard the craftworlds.

Over the years they have taken aboard many new crewmembers, which they felt were of decent character and that would be of use to them. Most of these new additions are either Eldar from the craftworlds, maiden worlds, exodite worlds, or even fellow pirates, but over the years they have occasionally taken aboard alien crew members. Out of these aliens none were as common as the Zoats and Humans. Eventually these two groups formed sizeable breading populations aboard the fleet, and became loyal comrades of the wandering Eldar.

The new generations of Zoats and Humans began to take on many of the eldar's traditions and customs, and with each following generation the difference between the eldar and non-eldar crew members became almost unnoticeable. With their many acts of loyalty and sacrifice they earned the trust and respect of the fleet, and became like kin to the eldar. The eldar have even come to morn the deaths of their close friends since their lives are so brief compared to that of an Eldar.

On rare occasions Eldar with special training or skills join Fleet Isha. These individuals are highly respected by the fleet, and are encouraged to share their knowledge with others so that it will continue within the fleet long after they’re gone. A notable example of this are the aspect warriors who have joined the fleet, and have trained crew members in the ways of  their aspects. Those trained continue to carry this knowledge after the warriors’ passing, and share it with the newer generations. The armours of those original aspect warriors are carefully cared for, and are passed down to whoever will lead that newly formed “Aspect” which are known as factions aboard Fleet Isha.

These pieces of armour are very important to those aboard the fleet, and in a way they represent the peace and hope the crew feels knowing that these skills will help to protect them. This is similar to how an exarches armour is treated aboard a craftworld, but aboard the fleet it does not matter if the armour is ancient or simply a normal warrior’s armour. Even if they come across another piece of armour from that aspect they will not use it in that faction, it will either be given to the leader of another faction, or stored incase another faction branches out.

Aboard Isha there are no such things as civilians and warriors. The crew are their own army, and they rely on themselves for their survival. All of them have seen battle before, and all except the old and sick will see it again. Even those who choose to take on the extra work of joining a faction must do their share of the fleet’s work.

A final note:

The crew of Fleet Isha may be pirates, but they are not bloodthirsty. When it comes to survival they prefer not to fight. If they need materials their bonesingers cannot make they will look for them in empty star systems or asteroid belts, and try to harvest them themselves if possible. If they need items which they cannot produce they will try trading for them if possible. But if necessary they will take up contracts to get what they need, yet even then they have limits to what they are willing to do. Although regardless of their intentions, like most other Eldar there are times when necessity and desperation leave no other options.

Tial-Angau
(Far from Doom)

Tial-Angau is an Exodite world which lies near the Tau Empire. Shortly before the colonization of Lia-Isha the eldar of this world were confronted by the tau and offered the choice of either joining the Greater good, or certain death. The exodites had long since seen this confrontation coming, and had ample time to prepare. But while studying their enemy many started to wonder if joining the Empire would indeed benefit them and aid in their survival. Soon the planet became divided on what should be done.

Thankfully a peaceful solution was found that would satisfy all involved in the form of a wondering Harlequin named Turgon Elanessë. With the support of one of Tial-Angau’s ruling tribes (the Iolars) he proposed the division of Tial-Angau, and creation of a new Exodite homeworld.

The Tau agreed to this and allowed the exodites safe passage out of their territory aboard the pirate ships Turgon had called upon for help. This was meant to be a sign of goodwill towards their new allies who held no grievances towards their fleeing kin. As well as spearing those who choose not to join them, the Tau promised to allow the eldar to maintain their world spirit with no intervention, and pledged to help protect it at any cost assuring the safety of their dead as long as they remain loyal to the greater good.
