Surprised to see someone responded, thought I was one of the few insane enough to still hunt this game down. Honestly it is one of the most in depth RPG's I've played, instead of focusing on flashy graphics it has detailed gameplay. Deity and religon? Food and starvation? In depth monster detail? Tactics for fighting? HUGE class/race combo, Artifacts galore, corruptions, spells? The list continues, even your character creation is a thorough process. It even has a Casino! I highly recommend checking it out for anyone that likes rpg's/roguelike games.
Oddly enough like my 40k interests, I have a resentment towards humans and trolls. Troll Healers born on the Candle with the healthy talent are almost foolproof, but they are stupid (need like 2.5x exp of any other class) and need to eat all the time. Food can be a pain in this game..
I prefer Dark Elf(dar) because that Find Weakness/Alertness combo is nasty (and generally their super low regen is offset by being born in the Candle, my favourite, although my winning class had raven.) If the class I choose has these already I'll loiter over to Drakelings, Hurthlings or the other elf(dar.) Currently I am rocking a lvl 18 Dark Elfdar Mindcrafter, and love how unique this class is in comparison to any other rpg class. Explode your opponents brain? Sounds like fun! Sounds about right with Dark tactics too. Crazy difficult to keep alive at low levels but their lack of need for spellbooks and ability to deal with cats is amazing. Also, I got lucky and became the Champion of balance with fireproof early on, and came across an orcish spear of penetration, walking through Darkforge currently without any troubles.
I'll have to try out a few orks, although their short lifespan makes me resent those damn ghosts/lords/kings. Their skillset is pretty handy though, and I like Orks in 40k.
