*looks around* where's Steamboat Willy? This is a thread about guns, and Willy hasn't posted yet! I wonder if he's sick....
Well, its nice to see that people are concerned! no i wasn't ill, i was sleeping as it goes.
I opened up a thread like this a while ago, but meh, nevwer mind.
I have a long list of favorite guns:
The Luger:
The kar 98 is not that good, but i like it.
I am a bit partial to the M4 these days
The Desert Eagle has 8 shots when loaded with .50 action express, and 9 when loaded with .357 or .44 rounds. (it fires revolver cartridges, yes) It has a habit of stovepiping, and the recoil is a be-atch (dont believe any of these films where they fire it one handed)
The G11 was revolutionary, but rememebr politics got in the way, so it isn't MADE anymore. and it has a hard time peircing armour....
The G36? well, it is one of the best 5.56mm NATO assualt rifles around, but it is expensive, not a bad product from HK, although they did abandon thier roller delayed blowback system on it....
The OICW (operation invidividual combat weapon) is REAL. It may come to replace the US army M16 in the next few years. It is 5.56mm.
No james bonds new weapon is a walther P88. The P38 has been out for 70 years now, and is currently still used by the german army as the P1. They are both not bad.
OK, the AK47. Its cheap, resistant to dirt, easy to maintain, but its a 'pay and spray' weapons. Any weapons using a long stroke piston in a kalashnikov design sux for accuracy. he druganov used a short stroke, making it accurate. (and thats not a bad rifle)
The AK74 is better. (a good use of a 5.45mm round)
the MP5 is good, but if you honestly think you can fire one in each hand you are living in a dream world....
If i had the choice, i would arm the british army with FNP90's. But, the would cost (by my calculations) about £195M.
The FN Five-seveN aint bad, 20 rounds, and a very efficent saftey. (uses the FNP98 5.7mm round)
the Glock is good, lots of good 'plastic' guns have come out of Austria in recent years, like the Stery AUG.
The MG3 is pretty good, as Asteroth will tell you....
NOTE: the .50 browning cartridge CANNOT peirce a tank.
But, the Browning M2HB is quite a nice machinegun.
do you know what a magnum bullet is? a magnum bullet contains more explosive than normal so it has a higher range, muzzle velocity, causes more damage ect. BUT, the muzzle flare is bigger and the accuary goes down.
I am not fond of revolvers, but i like the Colt Anaconda (gotta love the .44)
M16 is Ok, but succeptable to dirt and dust..
The SA80 is great anywhere BUT the desert, where we do most of our fighting...
err... that all i can think about at the moment....
is that enough or you want more.....?
