As models they look okay, but they don’t scream 'elvish', and that feeling is reinforced by the hammers.

Also why does it look like Avalenor might be a 'Big Foot'. That is, what's with all the hair sticking out of the armour!

I'm not opposed to elves with hammers. I remember reading the Silmarillion and looking up the Book of Unfinished tales where Gondolin had both warrior groups with clubs(!) and smiths in all black armor fighting with hammers (and they were the good guys). Super-niche, I know, but the idea stuck. Plus, White Lions had huge axes and that's another weapon lots of people wouldn't associate with elves.

But, yeah, I get the feeling everyone else is struggling with.

Curiously, I don't hate the helmets. I still mostly find the proportions of the giant bull thing just in some kind of uncanny valley of body proportions.

Maybe its presence feels less weird if I just think of it as essentially a treeman. Big stompers aren't entirely alien to WH elves, I guess.

Still, I would've liked to see a dragon. Maybe with a future Tyrion-centric release.

So here is everything that I can find on what's been revealed so far. I was searching for somewhere I could find all there is to know about the lumineth at the moment, and it restored my faith in the range again :).

The artwork is beautiful and so are most of the models.  I do like the cavalry in particular.  I really do not like that minotaur look alike thing though.  It seems completely out of step with the rest of the range.

I dig pretty much the entire range, with the exception of Teclis's pose and the silly hats on the hammer dudes. That latter, though, is just a head swap--easy enough.

I am disappointed at the total lack of giant eagles and flying stuff.

I watched the livestream on Saturday, where they revealed the new models. Jervis came on afterwards and talked about the lore of the lumeneth and why these creatures are part of the range. Totally sold me on it. I recommend checking out the stream and listening to that part.

I can see that.

Maybe something like that will come with an "Air/Zenith" rune release. Although that'll be years and years from now, if other armies are anything to go by.

I've realized a bit more about what it is that looks so incredibly weird about that minotaur thing. Its head is WAAAAY above its shoulders. It's bizarre. Also the shins are freakishly long.

They've clearly tried to "elf-ify" the bull, but I'm not sure it's entirely worked.

Now that I see the artwork it looks a little bit better, but I remain unconvinced.  To me, it looks like a more elaborate version of Ray Harryhausen's Minaton, which just doesn't fit the range as I conceptualise it when assessing the other figures that have been posted in this topic.

Well technically, they're actually not part of the Lumineth Aelves at all. These are the elementals of Hysh, part celestial beast, part mountain, that the Lumineth have allied themselves with in an effort to make amends for the scars they left on the land during their civil war.

So they're really not inclusive with the Lumineth, but are more allies joined together in a coalition.

I'd like to point out that all the "hammers" these dudes are toting around are really just mallets.

The whole army is ready to play one kick-ass game of Whack-a-mole.

Are they then Hysh versions of the Slyvaneth?

That is one way to put it. They are elemental spirits of Hysh, particularly of the mountain aspect. They even have a High King, which is the guy detailed in that artwork, with the twin hammers.

Who knows if we'll see more in the future with river / zenith / wind.

Quite interesting when you think about it :).

Sylvaneth are sylvaneth, they exist in every realm.

These beings are something different entirely.

I'm aware of that, what I meant is that these guys are elementals of the Hysh realm's essence. Sylvaneth are much to the same in that they are essence of Ghyran, of life, and that essence can take hold in all of the mortal realms (like Death essence), probably more than the Hysh essence can :).

This raises an interesting issue of AoS: certain factions seem to naturally have exclaves in realms outside their home realm. Others don't really have a home realm specifically. I wonder if the Lumineth will have like, Ghyran or Ghur exclaves or something.

If you're collecting that army, that box is ridiculous to pass up. If it's anything like the sisters of Battle box, the limited edition book's value is half the price of the box, but with heaps more stuff thrown in. The templates and such will be very nice to have too.

I’m interested in these guys but I fear that I lack the painting skills required to make them look good.  :P
