Draigo in smaller games? Draigowing at 550 pts.
« on: August 14, 2012, 03:11:55 PM »
What is the smallest game (pts wise) that Draigo can be used effectively?

     550 pts.

     Draigo
     2 Paladins with Hammers
     3 Paladins with Halberds

385? :D

But to be serious, I think in (very) low point games he will be quite good (less than 1000 points), although the question is if people would want to play a second game as they basically just can't touch him. And once you go above 1700 points he starts to be worth it again as well as you will have enough points spare to fill out the rest of your list.

In my opinion he lacks in the 1000-1700 point range as he will eat up to many points (leaving you lacking in certain areas) and your opponent can take full advantage of that.

But my philosophy is that if your army would consist of a squad of paladins and a grandmaster anyway, you might as well upgrade that grandmaster to Draigo.

I'd say it's 1750. Anything lower, and you start treading into the realm of having basically nothing but your paladin squads. Of course, I'm assuming you're taking him in order to take Paladins. If not, then he's not that much more expensive then a Grand Master, so not that much of a problem.

Anything above 1500pts if you want to win on a consistent basis.

What if I ran Draigo with a Vindicare, accompanied by two Paladins with master crafted weapons for 550?  Sounds like it would be an interesting army to use at such a small level.

But who plays 550pt games?

Anyone can avoid 4 paladins and will just fire str8 or volume of shots into the vindicare until he is dead then capture the objectives the paladins are not at.
