1.5k doctrine-less guard

Well I'v decided it's about time I sat down and made a nice, permanent 1.5k army, so here it goes...  I think it is all right, but feel free to prove me wrong.

The only problem I can really see you having would be lots of high AV vehicles... Even a single land raider would give you a lot of problems, especially a crusader *shudders*

But apart from that, it looks pretty nice. I pitty the fool who tries to do a transport rush against this army.

Why no doctrines? If you took enough doctrines to 'buy back' the troops that you're using, then I'm sure you could get that close formation one for free, which is very useful and FREE!

because not everyone wants to use doctrines. Us guard veterans are a bit wierd like that: We don't do stuff just because it's rules are great, but just because we want to, or it's fluffy.

Also, close order drill is one of those doctrines that most armies won't be trained for. It is pretty specialiased (it's free 'cause it has some huge drawbacks, not because it's common), and mostly used by drill armies, eg Mordians or Praetorians.

I am aware of the anti-tank problems...  And I am considering dropping the flamer command squads for more missile launchers, but I think they will stay as they are...

As for doctrines, I've played guard for 6 years and didn't need doctrines to win then, I don't need them now.  And I cannot bring myself to use doctrines without writing up fluff and background to explain it and then showing it on the models somehow, in the case of COD, it would be movement trays and bayonets for everyone, and I dont want to waste time on that.
