Title: Melbournian/Melbournites (people from melbourne) - SIGN IN!
Post by: Balthraka on August 2, 2006, 02:46:25 AM
Hey everyone.

I'm looking for anyone and everyone here on 40KO from Melbourne, Australia.

I want to know how many of you there are and how many would be interested in participating in a tournament or gaming get together at some stage.

I have seen how succesfull the London tournaments have been and would love to get the same thing happening here.

This post is just for an idea of numbers and a gauging of interest. But if the idea seems popular i will most definitely arrange some sort of tournament.

Thx all.

I'm in and I can certainly try to bring in some of my buddies.  It would probably have to be on a weekend for me (naturally) and accessable by public transport.

I play at La Trobe University, where I also happen to be the president of the Wargamers of La Trobe, more from convenience than by being able to play awesomely.  I am there most Fridays.
As for getting more people into this thing, Archite Balthraka, perhaps you should put something in your sig, or pm-ing the senior aussies to get into this.  Check their profiles to see their location though, to make sure you aren't inviting people from Perth.
To be honest I never checked this board (and didn't know it's existance) until that post you'd seen AB, and have rarely checked it since.
Good luck with finding people.

Ah yes, another one herea also... ;)

I am still in the process of building my Guard army, but due to lack of time, it seems to me that the army would never be done until my University holidays.

I play at La Trobe University, where I also happen to be the president of the Wargamers of La Trobe, more from convenience than by being able to play awesomely.  I am there most Fridays.

Funny though that they don't really have such club like that here in Monash University. (Or there is one, but I just never notice it)

Oh, and I happen to live right in the middle of the city BTW...

I could do something, possibly, but not until the holidays at least. And I'm not much of a gamer anyway, so you'd all have to put up with my unfamiliarity with 4th ed. rules...

Ah!

Interest is picking up again.

This wont be occuring for a little while. (At least until the end of the ski season)

But if we get about...10...people (there appear to be 17 melbournians on this site) then i will go ahead.

Once the interest level is high enough i will look into where to hold it (maybe rojo can help with that) and dates/food/etc.

@ Irandura. Maybe if u dont want to play u can come along and help me with the organisation (seeing as i will be playing and organising) Plus if we end up with odd numbers you can play some games

Oh, I'll play. It could be fun... it's just that when I play, I usually play heavily house-ruled 3rd ed., and usually quiet games. Players around the table only, that sort of thing. The most I've ever had around the gaming table was four, all good friends, in two teams. I think if I was at a public table with people watching, I would end up yelling at them to go away and shut up.

So I don't know if it would work, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Depends on where you'd be running the thing, organisation, etc.

Well we dont want u yelling at people....

But i also hate others around the table IF THEY GIVE ADVICE

So long as they just stand there and oooh and aaah i dont care.

But i would like to make it a rule of no pointing out tactics etc...

Oh, I'll try to hold it in, but it really irks me to see people looking over my shoulder, watching me play. You ever have difficulty playing a PC game or writing a post with a complete stranger leaning over your back? I can't stand it.

I could see what I could do in terms of a venue, however La Trobe Uni is quite far out from the city and I don't have any contacts closer to the city.  We could try asking mind games in the city, however there is not a great deal of room.  Hopefully someone else would have a better place than me...:D

OK, so when are we gonna have this meeting? (Got your PM, AB. ;))

I can probably come around during weekends for several hours. However, since I don't have a proper army at my possesion, I may not be able to play. I can still help you guys organising things.

Now, this may not be as big as the London 40K Online tourny, but it should be interesting. Not to mention that we can always organise something once this is established.

Even if it is not big enough to host the games, we could still use it as our 1st meeting point or something, me think.

How far away from Melbourne City is Mount Martha?

Another 3? Woah, thats getting big!

Can i get everyone else who is in for this to tell me what sort of dates are good for them?
Im thinking late Nov (a lot of people will have exams in early Nov).

Is that OK?

Also does anyone have any good places that they frequent where we could hold it? (B4 i go looking for somewhere totally different)

And finally, do people have terrain that they could bring? Becasue if we hold it in a non-warhammer place i dont have enough for like 10 tables...so do people have ANY themselves?

Hey, I live in Melbourne. Reservoir actually, which is right near La Trobe Uni, if the campus your talking about is Bundoora. If so, count me in. Although I can travel anywhere really, as I have my licence. Just make sure its a weekend OR a thursday sometime late november.

Ok Cool.

The consensus now seems to be late November...which is what i wanted anyway!

The army doesnt have to be COMPLETELY painted, becasue i am having scoring in a few seperate categories.
Pt limit will be 1500.

Also, i now have started looking for a location and am struggling to find anything reasonably priced!
Does Anyone in this thread think that they could get us a place at one of their unis or somewhere else that they have seen before?

Thanks?

Like I said, I could try and get a place up here at La Trobe Bundoora (yes, it is the one near Reservoir), but since there are people that want to play that live in places like Frankston, I don't think it would be an ideal place, unless they are willing to stay overnight somewhere.
LOW, if you would like a guideline of a tournament set-up, I have a tournament pack to my club's tournament for this year (which is in later this month) which I could send you if you're interested.  I put blood, sweat and tears into that thing...ok, maybe not, but still I'm proud of it, and it might give you some ideas.

I think the best place to post this thread is at

There are heaps and heaps of people from Melbourne that post there and do not visit 40konline.

If you post at wargamerau you will likely get around 20+ people if you set it up right!

Yeah..but its kinda supposed to be a 40KO tournament...

Plus, i dont want it to be too big...its my first time organising.

Anyway...i have started to write up a player pack and am sorting out rules/scoring etc...
But Location is the main issue.

I received an email from Rojo saying that he wont be good for Novemeber, but new year (January) is looking better for him, and he can get us a room at La Trobe Bundoora.

I need everyone to tell me whether this location is adequate...
Please let me know, becasue if its no good, ill keep looking.

As for dates, it wont be before end november, becasue of lots of people having exams...but January might be a bit late...ill see what happens.

I have no idea what happens at games workshop chadstone, but I don't think GW stores hold many tournaments anyway.

Well, my tournament went great (all those weeks ago) and now I am waiting to find out whether we are still going ahead with this tournament.  I have entered arcanacon for January the 27th and 28th, so that's what I'll be doing then.  Apart from that most of my time is free time.

Anyway, if anyone are still interested in this idea, just post in this thread or PM me. Maybe I might organise a small meeting or something to get things started.

EDIT

OK... Earlier today, I have asked a worker at mindsgame. According to him, there is usually Warmachines running on Friday & Magic the Gathering (Cards Game) running on Saturday. So that means any days beside these two would be fine to run WAR 40K.

After looking at gaming area, I think there should be enough space to run 2 games of 1000 pts (1 VS 1) at the same time. Therefore, a game of 4 people each withg 1000 pts army is also possible.

Additionally, I have some dice and most of gaming equipments required for the game. (except for pie plates & templates) However, I must note that I do not have an army to play.(yet) I plan to be an organiser for this.

Anyhow, just post in this thread or send me a PM if some of you are interested. Even if it is just for small gaming. However, if things are being done properly & regularly, organising a tourny might be possible.

Yeah I'm interested in going, I can provide templates and pie plates (one ordinance, blast and flamer). I also have some dice if that would help. Look forward to hearing from you.

I'm in. Organising something on a regular basis would be great.

Just as a query, where is the Mind Games that you checked out?

Ah, that would be the one right in Melbourne City...

It is located near to the cross of Lonsdale St. & Swanton St.

BTW, I will come back here to see how many are interested sometimes on this Sunday afternoon.

EDIT

Personally, I would like to do this on Sunday, but I got to check whether it would be possible for me or not. Oh yeah, I also have a digital camera. So pictures can be taken to show in this forums.

No meeting on this Sunday... (That would be taking things too fast) I meant I was gonna come back to this thread to see the number of people who currently are still interested in the idea.

Just so that you know, it does really not have to be Sunday...

I think Friday around 3:00 - 5:30 PM could also be possible for quick small games. (Before people who play Warmachines come for Friday Night gaming)

Sunday sounds good. Should be able to come along that.
Also is this a type of tournament or just a friendly gathering to play a few games

Also is this a type of tournament or just a friendly gathering to play a few games

My plan is to start off with getting some people to play a few games at first. (So yeah, it would be a friendly gathering for playing a few games) That is for getting to know each other a bit.

As an organiser, I think it might be a good idea to do that. Besides, I live in the city. So I can pop down to Mindgames at any time I want. (as long as it does not interfere my study)

However, if there are about at least 4 players in total, then a mini tourny could be decided. Additionally, a few narrative scenarios for short/long campaign could be done. (That is for the case where a large number of people cannot come for gathering of big games, but mass small games could be done)

Basically, I could record details of what's going on in the game & produce results to show in the forums. It should be appropiate for me since I am not really gonna take part in gaming much. Anyway, if things progress smoothly, real tournaments could be done.

EDIT

Here is a list of current opening time for Mindgames shop: (Went back to check today)

Sunday: 11:30 am - 6:00 pm
Monday: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
Tuesday: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
Wednesday: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
Thursday: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
Friday: 9:30 am - 9:00 pm
Saturday: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

Again, Saturday & Friday evening would be out of question as there are other games running. So ideal time would be on the whole Sunday afternoon.

=================================================

I have also looked at some other place beside Mindgames shop, and there is another possible place where gaming could take palce. It is like a common room located under the building where I live in. In other words, a recreation area for the residents who live in the building.

In that place, there is a table tennis which can be used as the boards for gaming, and there are a bit more spaces than Mindgames shop. So games of larger size can take place there. Additionally, the security of this place is quite tight for outsiders to come in as the only way to get into the basement is by using lifts. This means we can be less worry about losing models when some random people come by unlike the environment in th shop.

Furthermore, that also means gaming on Saturday is a possibility. However, I must note that there are no toilets nearby.

Now, I got to ask people who works in the office of this building first whether organising WAR 40K games in there is OK or not. I will let you know about this sometimes on this Tuesday or Wednesday. If it is fine, I might post a few pics of the area to show you all.

Thanks for the PM, first i ever got...
I saw this thread yesterday and was interested but tired, so didn't say anything. I would like to be involved, but it may be hard. I'm still doing school, so weekdays would be off, for the most part.
When I say that I live in Melbourne, I mean Healesville, that being like 1.5 hors away from the city, but thats what public transport is for.

I'd come along to such an event if it's possible. Mind Games in the city is perfect for me, as I pass very close by it on weekdays. Wednesday or Thursday afternoons (anything from 4 'til 6, pretty much) is quite convenient for me, but Sunday afternoon is also fine.

Excellent. Now, we have gotten about 4-5 people who are interested in taking part.

List of interested gaming participants (in alphabetic order)

- Cionnaith, Angel of Mercy
- Draza the Kitsune
- Irandrura
- Noble
- Tyranid_Wannabe

Note: The list does not include me, because I do not have an army to play with. But if anyone is willing to lend me their army, then I might be able to take part as the 6th player when needed. (The army can be of almost any kinds. And I am keen on learning how to play other armies.)

========================================================

EDIT

I went down to the shop again today to ask more questions about what are to do and not to do. Here is quick overview:

Rules for using the shop as gaming place

1. No food or drinks.
2. Gaming equipments are NOT provided. (These include things like dice, measuring tapes, rule books, and terrains.)
3. Do not yell or make loud noise within the shop.
4. Booking has to be done in advance.
5. Some events may take place during Sunday which would take priority over WAR40K gaming.

Solutions to these problems

1. If someone wants to eat or drink something, please do it outside. What I might do is put in some breaks in between gaming hours so that players can relax between the games.
2. I will provide measuring tapes, some dice, and a few things that might make gaming more convenient. If anyone has things like templates, pie plates, more dice, and terrains, please do bring some along. (I would like to know who can provide what) And you must bring your own copies of the rule books for the army you are using.
3. If you make loud noises and do not stop, the shop will simply kick you out. Other methods may be added and put into action.
4. I will sort out the time table for gaming and give it to the shop. Note that the time table will be for first half of this year. (And then I will make re-arrangement of it to suit the second half of the year.)
5. I would pop down by the shop on Thursday and/or Friday regularly to see if there any special events are going to take place. If some events will take place, I will let you all know on Friday night or sometimes by Saturday afternoon.

These are just a brief information about the rules of using that place. I will think about general rules for gaming and show them to you all at some points.

========================================================

Additionally, I have planned to put the time table into this gaming pattern:

Once per week for 2 weeks, then follow by a 1 week break. (And the process repeats)

Example using this year time (Just an example. This is not real time table I would propose):

March
Sunday 18th - Gaming Week
Sunday 25th - Gaming Week

April
Sunday 1st - Break Week
Sunday 8th - Gaming Week
Sunday 15th - Gaming Week (Tournament!)
Sunday 22nd - Break Week
Sunday 29th - Gaming Week

(And so on...)

========================================================

If anyone has any suggestions about the rules and solutions, please do say it! :) And I would like to know what you all think about this plan.

Here are some gaming rules which I came up with:

General Gaming Rules

1. No backseat helping - Players, who are not currently playing, are not allowed to give tactical advice to the person who is playing.
2. In-game rules argument - When a situation of rules argument/discussion occurs, it should take no more than 10 minutes to come up with a solution. Additionally, both sides must agree with the solutions in order to keep their games going. Note that the procedure should be carried in a well-behaved manner.
3. Cheatng - If somebody cheats and someone notices it, the opposite players have the right to stop and/or withdraw from the game. Note that there will often be someone who keeps an eye on the games. So cheating could be spotted instantly.

What units can be used?

1. Chapter Approved Rules are allowed (The players who wish to use these rules must have hard copies of them when presented at gaming)
2. Inquistorial Allies are allowed (Again, the players who wish to use these rules must have the required codex for using them)
3. Forge World Rules are allowed except for units with structure points. For example: Baneblade, a type of super heavy tanks. (Players who wish to use these rules will be asked to show their real copies of their Imperial Armour Books for the 1st time they want to play. After that, they can just bring photocopies of specific rules they wish to use.)

========================================================

Also, I have produced a draft of time table for gaming in the first half of this year:

40KO Melbourne Gaming Group - Time Arrangement

March
Sun 25th - Gaming Week

April
Sun 1st - Gaming Week
Sun 8th - Break Week
Sun 15th - Gaming Week (Tourny)
Sun 22nd - Gaming Week
Sun 29th - Break Week

May
Sun 6th - Gaming Week
Sun 13th - Gaming Week
Sun 20th - Break Week
Sun 27th - Gaming Week (Tourny)

June
Sun 3rd - No Gaming
Sun 10th - No Gaming
Sun 17th - No Gaming
Sun 24th - No Gaming

July (Need pre-planning & Unconfirmed)
Sun 1st - Gaming Week?
Sun 8th - Gaming Week?
Sun 15th - Break Week?
Sun 22nd - Gaming Week?
Sun 29th - Gaming Week?

Notes
1. In June, I am not avaliable within that month due to my University Study.
2. From July onward (Second half of the year), specific dates are not confirmed as I would need to re-arrange the schedules to suit my time.

========================================================

OK, please do let me know what do you guys think about this. And please confirm me about your avaliability on those dates. Either by PMs or posting in this thread. Again, comments & suggestions are welcome.

Thank you. :)

One or two of the gaming weeks clash but I expect you didn't want us to turn up to them every week- importantly the tourney dates are free with me. :)

I think im bussy this weekend, but if the tourney is that april 15th date, i should be able to make that 1. As for now, I gotta get my army set up anyway, so cant atm anyway.

PS: Wats the rules for armys? 1000pts is it, armies have to be constructed and painted or wat? Anything else i should know about?

That would be entirely up to you. In other words, you can come to any of those dates as shown above...

I don't expect everyone to come to every single one of them. As for the army pts limit, preferable range would be somewhere between combat patrol (400 pts) to 1000 pts at the moment. However, the limit could be moved up to 1250-1500 pts, if the majority have enough models to do that.

Regarding the rules for tourny, I have yet gotten a clear thought in my head as I need to see the state of other gamers first. Possibly, a little discussion might take place for this issue.

EDIT

Apparently, there seem to be only 3 players coming this weekend. So one of you may have to stand by and watch the game, or there are also a number of options you could choose:

1. A game of 3 player in which one side would have more forces to fight the other 2 players. (2 VS 1)
2. Me taking the role of 4th gamer (that is if any of you can lend me an army to play)

Please discuss about what you all would like to do. And if you have any other ideas you could suggest, please do.

Sorry for double posting... It has been quite a while since the last time I say anything to the public.

Anyway, please allow me to brief up what has happened over the past 2 weeks.

Week 1 (March 25th)
- The game took place in the basement.
- 2 Players attended the gaming. Had 2 games of Space Marines VS Sisters of Battle. (SoB)
- First game mission was seek & destroy. The SoB won!
- Second game mission was to capture a building in the middle. Additionally, there were some Eldar interference as the 3rd party. At the end, the space marines won with 2 man still standing on the objective!

Week 2 (April 1st)
- The game took place in Mind Games shop.
- Today, 3 players attended, and since there was a shotage of players, I took the role of 4th player.
- We managed to only have one game of team battle 2 VS 2 with 1000 pts per each sides with each players in the teams can coordinate their action together. In other words, the game was more like 2000 pts per each side but made up of 2 armies.

So the game was a fairly BIG battle. The mission was Seek & Destroy. Quick details as follow...

Team 1: Necrons and Chaos Thousand Sons VS Team 2: Space Marine and Necrons
Team 2 won a solid victory!

- The game took us almost half the day to finish.

================================================

For week 1 (or last week), the games were pretty much interesting. Overall, I think we all did enjoy it. :D

As for today, I have to say that the game was starting to get somewhat a bit boring toward the end. Originally, I planned to have at least 3 games for each players (or 2 games if there would not be enough time). However, due to the sheer size of the battle and there were 2 armies of Necrons participating in the battle...

Well, it took us a very long time to finish. Roughly about 3 and a half hours, I think. Perhaps we should really have gone for smaller games of 1000 pts per each sides at the very beginning. Anyway, it was still a good game. :)

And for a very long while, I do not want to play Necrons nor have a very large game again... (>_<)

That's all for my public announcement. See you in the next 2 weeks on April 15th! ;)

Yeah that 2000pts game was long........ but I still found it fun

I would just like to take this oppurnunity to gloat as part of the winning team this week  ;D ;D  ;)

But seriously it was a good game- had quite a scare with a daemon prince flying into my necrons but luckily charging my warriors into combat I was able to kill it and its nasty 2+ armour save. Although I was very unlucky with my wwb rolls -failed all but 2 rolls >:( and my lord relatively doing nothing spectacular.

I can't wait for the 15th  :)

Yeah, I have to say that your army did not do very well...

While I tried to avoid that SM Command Squad of Irandrura which had a Chappie & a Power Fist & a power wep for most of the time... A very nasty CC unit, it was! :o And the unit was sitting there for almost the whole game. Gosh, I could not advance anywhere near where they were standing. (Otherwise I will get charged, and I know how poor Necrons are in CC compared to Marines in general.)

The only thing I could do was to snipe some men in the back with destroyers and have Necrons warriors staying still for most of the game. A clever deployment for Irandrura's part.

Glad that you did enjoy it at least! :) Personally, I would like to have many more games done, but there was not really enough time. And everyone got tired at the end.

Still not sure about the command squad... the deployment of them could have been better. Over half the squad was wiped out in a single turn's shooting, and all I got in return was a single turn of combat against a full Necron warrior squad. I'd hoped to rampage through that side of the battlefield with only Necron warriors and Thousand Sons to oppose me in combat, but it didn't turn out so well. I gave away my cunning plan by talking!

On the other hand, I suppose it worked, preventing the enemy from sweeping down that side of the field and outflanking the rest. Plus my red, green, and blue Tactical Squads all managed to end up in one piece by the end, so I guess it was worthwhile. Most of the action was over on the other edge... and congratulations, Tyranid_wannbe, for taking the Daemon Prince and the Obliterators! I'm always somewhat scared by them and don't have the tenacity to keep pouring small arms fire into Obliterators until they die. I'm not sure why they kept advancing, actually. It might have been better to keep them around the back, sniping with lascannon fire, safely beyond the range of Necron warriors.

But they didn't, and I got to discover that what they say about Necron reliability is entirely true. You can always depend upon them to hold a line, it would seem.

Irandura, your assault marines did pretty well- surviving for most of the battle despite being in combat for most of the game with various units.

I was actually more scared of the obliterators getting into close combat than shooting- damn powerfists are the bane of necrons.

Yeah I just kept shooting at the oblits- eventually they have to fail a save- just a matter whether its turn 2-3 or turn 6.

Hi there everyone... Here is the summary of what happened in the last weekend gaming.

There were only 3 players coming to play. So the tourny did not actually take place. As a result, we decided to do 3 games of 500 pts so that everyone get to play at least 2 games at first. (As in they were all fighting each other 1 by 1) Here is the event which took place: (Straight Copy & Paste from Draza summary)

Game 1: SOB won

Basically a Necron squad killed the Canoness who lingered too far out. SOB squad charged into a Necron squad, using divine guidance to keep the squad down. They got ran down. Other squad held out in close combat against another Warrior squad and Lord (with gaze of flame) long enough for the other squad to charge in with divine guidance and phase out the Necrons

Game 2: Necrons won

Harlies had no Shadowseer. They got too close and were rapid fired off the board. Farseer charged a  Necron squad and eventually another Guardian squad did as well. Eventually the Guardians ran away, couldn't regroup because of enemy proximity and were counted as destroyed since it was turn 6. That Warrior squad was at 50% still. Other squad killed a few Guardians, nothing major. Rangers did fairly well

Game 3: SOB won

Everything moved forward. Farseer tried to Mind war the Canoness, but invulnerable save defended it. Canoness then jumped behind the forest and instant killed the Farseer with a inferno pistol. Then she jumped into a Guardian squad, used the Passion, ran them down, 6" consolidate into next Guardian squad. They broke Morale, got away got reconsolidated into, lost again and forced to run off the board.

BSS just advanced. Rangers did very little, 2 Scatter lasers averaging one kill a turn between them. One squad shot at 24" into Rangers, killed 2. They ran, then regrouped. They also killed 2 Harlequins before being charged. Lost 2-3 girls, killed one and then got run down. Other BSS flamed them to death and then flamed the Rangers to death

=================================

After that, we then played a big Mission game of 3 sides each with 1000 pts. Here are the details & some highlights.

Mission Game (3 sides)

SoB
1st Objective - Prevents Eldar from destroying 6 oil tanks
2nd Objective - Rescue a crew to secure an important artifact/information

Necrons
1st Objective - To hold their 2 tombs in the middle of the battle

Eldars
1st Objective - Seek and rescue 3 Eldar pathfinders who hold an information of the Imperium
2nd Objective - Destroying 6 oil tanks

Gaming level: Gamma
Game pts limit: 1000 pts per each sides, free for all
Special Rules:
1. Daemon World (Perversoria)
2. Tyranids disruption - Some of these local xenos became active as they notice the presence of living intruders. Basically, a small group of nids suddenly show up in the battle to harass. They would ignore the Necrons only if the Necrons did not attack the nids (mainly because the nids have no interest in non-living beings), and they would only go after either Eldar & SoB.

=================================

Well, there you go. :) Brag all you like about your glory & etc... ::)

Also, I would like to make an announcement that I will always be sending public PMs to anyone who are in the gaming group and for those who are interested in hearing what has been happing. (Even if the person stated that he won't be coming to play) The aim of this service is to keep everyone informed about what is going on. It is pretty much like how newsletter work.

If anyone else (besides the people I already knows and send PMs) would like to know what has been happening with our gaming group, please feel free to PM me. (And I will put you down in the list of people to PM) Also, if you would like to join in or participate, please PM me or post in this thread that you would like to come.

So far, I could say that things have been progressing pretty smoothly.

Anyhow, look forward to see you this upcoming weekend! ;)

lol, i put my losses down to horrible dice rolling. those guardians didn't move for two turns damn. TWO TURNS. And then they only got one turn of shooting which destroyed teh generator. I just realised that if i'd fleeted the harlies two turns before i charged the necons, i would have been in charge distance a turn before, and probably would have got into the combat with the lord, killing them. and the stupid fireprism only wounded once which killed a destroyer which promptly came back to life. AAARRRGHH.

anyway, it was a decent game. even if i did lose all my games.

Hey everyone!

I also just started on eldars. I used to 'collect' dark eldars in primary school, and I put collect in quotes. I'm in uni now, and got some money, so I just got back into WH40K. I like the eldars and their aspects, gives nice theme and variety, and seems just oh-so-cool to me. (this was right off the Newcomer Thread teeheehee)

So I'm really new. I bought a pile of aspect warriors off ebay, but have not painted them yet, and don't have much idea of how to paint them well. I also don't know the rules very well. But it would be great if I can come and watch you guys on your friendly games. I'll keep quiet, because I don't have any advice to offer anyway. :P

And also, I goto Melb Uni, and I also work there, and if you guys can't find places to play, I can open up a few rooms in Melb Uni for us.

Hi there everyone,

I would like to make a number of announcements about several changes for our gaming group...

First of all, given that there was no gaming last week (April 22nd) due to lack of players, I have decided that there will be gaming for this upcoming Sunday (April 29th) to make up for the last week.

Now, lately, I am starting to have less time to maintain effective communication to all gaming participants (through PMs) and making arrangement/booking with Mindgames shop due to my University works. As a result, I have to seek other methods for getting a list of people who are coming for the gaming session and making an extensive revision of how the gaming would be done from now on.

Communication System

From now on, you are all going to be responsible for taking an initiative of contacting me about whether you will be coming to the gaming session or not on Sunday. In other words, you are responsible for placing yourself into the gaming session. I won't be able to send out many PMs asking people whether they will be able to come or not as I used to do. (Or making contacts very frequently.)

As stated before, I am starting to get really busy with my Uni works.

Place for Gaming

The place for gaming will always be in the Basement. This is done to reduce confusion for where the gaming would take place. (And so that we can have food/drinks during our gaming session as well, since we all know that Mindgames shop does not allow food & drinks into their place) However, things may still change regarding the gaming place as I would need to consult Boku & check the place which he has to offer first. (I will inform you all about this new place once I have had a look into it.)

But for now, the default gaming place is the Basement.

Gaming Weeks and Time Arrangement

Another big change is that there will be gaming on Sunday every weeks from now on. So no more having break week & such. This is up until May Sunday 27th.

This means that there would be a total of 5 gaming sessions from now on. Again, there will be no gaming sessions at all during June. (As stated before in one of my previous post that I have exams during that month) After June, gaming sessions may or may not continue just yet, as I need to plan out several things first. (But I will keep in touch with you all.)

Gaming Pts Limit

The preferred maximum game pts limit is still set to 1000 pts. However, if some of you have higher than the preferred limit of about 1250 pts army or lower of about 500-750 pts, you can also bring that much to the gaming session. I may arrange different kinds of gaming scenarios for a bit of variety.

To simply put, for those who have a large army, I would advice you to design a number of army lists to fit in many categories of gaming size. And for those who have small army (or fairly large army but with some unfinished models), please do not worry about this issue too much. So far, we as a group, do not really mind about playing with some unfinished/unpainted models.

How does the whole thing work?

- Basically, all you have to do is send me a PM about whether you will be coming or not by Friday at 9:00 PM every week. I will send you all a PM once on either Wednesday or Thursday just to remind you all. This is done so that I can get a list of people who will be coming. The message does not have to be long. (Just say like you will come or not.)

- If I don't hear anything from you by PM after the deadline I set (Friday at 9:00 PM), I will automatically assume that you are not interested in coming to the gaming session. So please try to contact me before the deadline.

- After the deadline, I will send you all PMs about rough time tables for gaming session of that week as well as some details of what kind of games might take place. However, if there are not enough players coming to play, I will send you all a PM notice that there will be no gaming for that week instead. This would be done on straight away on Friday night before midnight.

Notes

- Please do bring you own food & drinks before coming to gaming session.
- Even if some of you stated that you won't be coming for gaming, I will still send you PMs about the details of gaming sessions of that week. Again, I am doing this as a form of newsletter to keep you all informed about what is going on.

==============================================

OK, that is all I want to say. As usual, if any of you have some questions or would like to make some enquiries about certain things, please PM me.

Thank you! :)

Hi there everyone... (And sorry for double posting)

Today, it was a total disaster in our gaming session that there was a number of people who said they would come, but almost nobody turn up to the gaming session. Only Boku showed up a bit late. However, he was probably the only one that came.

Basically, I was waiting outside for almost 2 hours to see if anyone would still come after the arrival time which I set. But still... No one came around. I have to say that "It was a real waste of my time!"

I would like to make a statement that I am willing to spend my time to organise this gaming group, but I am NOT willing to just wait for someone who said they would come but still did not show up. Again, it was a total waste of my time. (My apology, if these statements may sound like I am angry/harsh in terms of wording. However, the fact still remains that almost no one showed up at the gaming session.)

Therefore, as far as I am concerned with the way how things went, there seem to be a real need of revising & improving in communication system within the group. Later, at some points in this week, I will contact you all again about what might be needed or to be done in order to maintain effective communication.

======================================================

Anyhow, since there was only just me & Boku today, we decided to go down to Melbourne University to check out the room(s) which could be used for hosting a gaming session. After having seen the rooms, I would like to say that those places look great for hosting gaming session. So, as a future reference, I might decide to have gaming sessions in that place at some points.

I'll keep in touch with you all again through PM.

Thank you for reading,
