Topic: Marneus Calgar Chapter Master To The Ultramarines

I'm not sure many of you guys are aware, but my latest hobby endeavor is to paint a full company (106 marines, 9 tank transports) of Ultramarines. Plus more units from other companies (1st, 8th and 10th, not to mention the armoury).

Well last week I painted a milestone mini. The actual chapter master himself.

As for Calgar...
That is one very very impressive paintjob!
You have done an amazing job here, very detaled; face and the edge of his cape in particular. The highlights and shading look great aswell.

heh, i was gonna post about the paints to use for Calgar,  could you give a break down on what paints you used and on what parts,  thanks.

Well in total it probably around 20-30 paints. I use vallejo game colour. Main blues are done with mixes of Ultramarines blue, Wolf grey, and "black lined with night blue. Golds are bright bronze up to glorious gold, with a flesh+black ink wash to shade. Highlight the gold with mithril. Yeah it's a monster of a project, but I love huge armies. So it's all good. might have some assault marines to share soon. Painted 7 of them in nearly a week so far. Will start the last 3 tonight.

Awesome project Gareth. I liked the work you did with Ventris in your previous post, and Calgar has come out just as impressive. A whole Company project is a cool project and seeing that much painted of a whole army is awesome still, trust me I have seen Dave Taylor's whole Ultra army on display, and its a sweet thing to behold!
