So the main site at the http://www.40konline.com/mos/ (http://www.40konline.com/mos/) has been hacked? Does that mean that the main site was actually back up? I don't see much reason in hacking a frontpage. Anyway, I'm sure you'd probably noticed it anyway, just thought I would put up notice about it. :-\
Edit: Please don't construe this as a "why isn't the site back up yet?" post. I was just putting this up in case it mattered at all. I don't have a clue with computers, so sorry if it is irrelevant.

Yup, apparently somebody with poor taste in music has taken a disliking to the forum. If you see the site is hacked, for obvious reasons if it wants you to download something just say no and bide you time until we get it sorted.

So, our hobby is more or less considered a bit nerdy or dorky. Not only that, but you combine an internet forum to that and you gain another layer of nerdiness... What does that say about the kind of person that decided to hack this site? Probably a little too much time on their hands. Not only that, they only hacked the front page. We can still get into threads and post. Amateur.

Actually you really cant say what kind of damage he has caused, how many back doors he created, until Kindred has invested much work into figuring it out. Its not just kicking the hacked frontpage out and done.

Of course, this is true. I'm not saying it's a cake walk for our much appreciated admins. My point was that he didn't really disturb the regular goings on all that much, seeing as how we're still here to discuss it.

I went on the front page earlier today and the page didn't load properly, but I actually got hit with some virus that got quarantined and I immediatly removed from it from my computer. I hope it was just me.
Though I'm sad I missed out on this page you guys all seem to have seen ::)

I know they hacked the frontpage and the web content, but has there been any word from mods on whether our accounts were hacked? Do they have access to a password list? Should we be changing our passwords?

passwords in the forum are salted SHA1... even if the hacketrs got access to the database (which they did not), there would be very little, if any, chance that they could get the passwords.

no. For the most part Hackers are idiots who have never belonged to a site, have no idea (and no concern) over what they might be trashing.
And I have the idiot's IPs. They do not match any member's address.

One question, are we going to stop seeing the Tavern as unread posts? I used to want it, but now the continual posts bother me ::)

I will be re-editting the code tomorrow or Sunday to add the gmail, skype stuff back in as well as remove the tavern and games boards from the recent list
