Saxon Dundelings
« on: September 1, 2007, 07:17:09 AM »
Yet another project done in August. I was hoping to get a lot more achieved this month, but with the contest entry eating up so much time I really wasn't as productive as I would have liked.

These guys were done up on commission for a friend of mine. He wanted them to look like Saxons, since he will be using them in Warhammer Ancient Battles. Considering they were to be done in a historical setting I decided to forgo all the very deep shades and contrast and rather went for a more realistic approach tot he minis, with subtle transitions and shades.

I think overall the metal came out looking fantastic... why did I ever do NMM lol

Onto the pics

They look real nice as a coherent group. Bright, but not in a cartoony way.

Can we see a couple of closer, individual shots?

I think these guys reaks of brilliance. They are bright, as stated before, but not in an unrealistic way (like in WoW for example). The NMM is some of the best I've seen to be honest.

The only small complaint I have is the bases. They feel a bit bland and boring. They are realistic and all, but maybe you could have painted the edges green or brown, as they look a bit unfinished to me. It might be a personal taste though.

Overall, it's a stunning piece of work.

nice job, they really look teh part, tough  i have to go with purg on the bases edges.
Still I lay cold, my soul seeks light / my eyes are tired; my heart's last fight
Around my shell of wood and cloth / trickle sound of wound and loss.
Broken voices of tears and cry's / sorrow and love for a Nation's son's life.
Mother and Father alone in thought. / Of the bravery and pain in the battle we fought.
We move slowly we three welcomed home. / A parade of silence, hands and flags wave
Above our bodies, they gather as on, / Along this highway of heroes for two seconds of light.
