Since you asked for ideas for making the half track look a little better:

e1.jpg" class="bbc_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:SdKfz_251_AufD_imag e1.jpg

All half-tracks I've seen have this kind of design. A slightly sloping ''fender'', a sloping front, followed by a straight ''windscreen'', and then a flat top. I think it would look much better if you had managed something like that, and I think the turret could be placed a bit further back. Another suggestion is to bulk out the sides a bit.

(note: I have no practice in using plasticard etc, so feel free to not use the advise  ;) )

Nope its certainly plastic, if I was to have a go I'd say its from an old necromunda model but I can't really pretend I know for certain.  ;)

The pose on the sarge is excellent, this army is really coming along great and at what a pace!
The extra detailing on the tank is looking good, very nice!

sorry, i can't answer q's (if there is any) but car is on the meters and any Brits out there will realise how harsh traffic wardens are...especially in Birmingham.

Ok, got cracking last nite on the heavy weapons team, only managed to get 1 to a presentable standard (and even then its lacking some minor details). Never the less, for your viewing pleasure:

also made some progress on weathering the bulldozer

and finally, a few cadian/catachan special weapons

Cheers

P.S The stub pistol/6 shooter. is from the plastic orlock with CC weapons, other alternative are the goliath (too big IMO) and several from the Gorkamorka range

Oh yes. The weathering effects are very nice.

Also like the similarities between the heavy bolter shield and the nearby terrain

Ok well, 1 late night l8r, and they're all done.

and a group shot to cap it off

@Voltarian: Sorry, never commented on your ratlings. Good effort for a 1st GS attempt. I would suggest using a wire armature (paperclip/wire) to make basice shape. Then build up in layers, if you need to, in order to get correct proportians. It will also add increased stability, but remember, too little GS is always better (easier to fix) than too much. If you build up in layers, be sure to allow time for each layer to set/harden. This is where a production line of 5-8 models can be handy, to stagger the time of setting & sculpting.

Excellent heavy weapons team.

I wonder if you have ever seen mythbusters on the telly?  ;D

The bases look fantastic, lots of drama and the right amount of cover in my opinion.

@Markay: Ha, never thought of it till then, but now all i see is Jamie Hyneman when i look at it. He very well may have to become his namesake

Well, in an effort to put off deciding the regimental insignia (as well as some looming deadlines  ) i put these fellas together whilst watching Zulu Dawn the other night....no real link its just a good film...but i digress, here's the pics

Firstly the Lieutenant, hopefully heres head is a bit more in focus than previously

Squad 1

and the Armoured Fist Veteran Sergeant

thats all folks, C and C welcome as always

Haven't got as much as i'd have liked as i've been swamped by work, but i'm over that hurdle for the time being so there has been a little progress:

Firstly, a WIP stormbolter for my commander, made from a shortened ork shoota with imperial icons and two bolter barrels:

and a Medic (one of two carrying bolters). The circles of Green stuff will be painted with the compulsary red cross

Please let me know how you feel about the medic as i haven't quite made up my mind about him. Perhaps painting will improve it

Just finished off the serg so here's a pic of the 2nd squad, the 'running' squad.

and a closeup shot of their sergeant.

To make the Stormbolter
Bits needed: Ork Shoota, 2 x Boltguns (decorational: Skull from bolter, winged skull from cadian helmet)

1) Take the shoota, cut back to second line of rivets.
2) Chop the entire front of each bolter off, trying to leave a thin strip of plastic holding the barrel together with the other gubbinz together.
3)Turn the bolter barrels upside down and glue them to the front of the shooter alongside eachother.
4) Cut off the sight from the front of the shoota and reattach centrally to the new front. Attach icons as you see fit.

Speaking of stormbolters...

Here's a WIP pic of the Colonel.

Still needs braiding to link his overcoat. Anybody have any suggestions to help bling up this chap

The cloak is from the outriders box, heavily cut down to fit with the arm removed.

Didn't get much done last nite (well, it was a friday nite) but managed to do one of the greaves to a presentable standard with the other one curing in the GS mould (you can never get enough skulls). Please let me know what you think because if it needs changing sooner is so much better than later. Cheers

Ok second greave now done as well as wrist guards, do you think this is enough plating to justify carapace for WYSIWYG?

Think he's pretty much done now...i should probably just paint him. Then again, i was going to add a saber...

looks great, i think the greave easily justifies carapace, the thickness of him certainly shows his stature off.

the frogging looks good on his shoulder too, you have quite the sculpting ability!

Frogging, thats the word. Cheers Cpl. Lee, i've been calling it braiding.

Ok, well the two squads and the Officers/ncos are undercoated. After this spurt of modelling i feel like i need to get back to painting. Heres the list to see what will be coming up in the modelling/painting pipeline.

One more on the sprues, planning on arming it with a shortened lascannon and it will have the traditional 20mm GS'ed base as the roof.

Not sure if i should post this here, but it will allow you to know whats in the pipline in terms of modelling.

The list is as follows:
HQ:
HQ Squad
J/Officer (Honorifica Imperius, Cara/SBolter)
Medic/Standard, 2 x Bolter
G/Launcher
107

Sentinal
Lascannon, ACC, SLight
71

Fire Support
HBx3
80

Elite:
7 x Ratlings
77

Troops
Command Squad
J/Officer,Carapace, Medic, 2x Bolter, L/Cannon
83

10 x Squad
M/Launcher
75

10 x Squad
M/Launcher
75

5 x Squad
Flamer
36

Armoured Fist Squad
VSergeant,Bolter,Autocannon
82
Chimera
HB,HullmountedHB,SL
88

Fast Attack
Sentinal
Autocannon,ACC, SLight
66

Heavy Support
Leman Russ
Lascannon
155

995pts (now that the colonel has lost his bionics).

Not part of the list are the 3 fantasy ogres on sprues lying around doing nothing. 3 Ogryns come to 75 and so are virtually interchangeable with the Ratling squad. They would be a blast to convert and allow me a bit more tactical freedom.

Well, i've had some requests for a step by step, so i kept a log whilst painting the prototype for the average grunt. I tried to get balance between speed and looks and this one toom bout 15-25minutes, not going at any real pace.

Step 1:
Spray black and drybrush Codex Grey over the model, using a large brush

Step 2:
Paint skin areas bronzed flesh

Step 3:
Paint pads black and add tiger stripes to all grey areas except the armour. Go over boots and gun

Step 4:
Draw smaller accents (parrallel lines) o the black stripes. Go over winged skulls

Step 5:
Paint accessories, watered down flesh wash and then elf flesh highlight for the skin, then base.

Hope that helps, cheers
