Well albeit that kind of ignorance gave plenty a victory to a catachan commander

What bugs me about the Catachans is that they obviously don't wear flak jackets.

It is stated repeatedly in each of the Codices that you must show the equipment carried by your models.  Then GW goes off and makes an entire regiment of Guardsmen, who obviously aren't wearing flak jackets, and tells us that they are!

So... why can't I just say that all of my tanks have extra armor on them without having to show it in the model?

I know.  It's basic gear, so it goes without saying that the Catachans have flak jackets.  It just seems inconsistent...

It would have made more sense to let you buy 5pt troopers without the 5+ armor save than to say that all guardsmen have the flak jackets and the armor save.  Many of us would choose to save the extra point per man since a 5+ doesn't help against Marine and Eldar basic weapons.

i'm not much of a fan of the 'rambo' look of the catachans, but hey, maybe their muscles form some type of a flack armor? personaly id rather have seen plastic cadians or valhallans.

Finally read the Catachan Codex and a good read it was. I like many of the optional rules for this army and wonder how best they could actually be used, what with the sheer lack of jungle terrain on many boards.

Perhaps people could be persuaded to use more wood terrain in games? Catchies can be used in woods as well as jungle. I certainly wouldn't mind sowing a few booby traps into woods to give Rangers/Pathfinders a surprise when next they skulk.

Demolition charges look useful as well. The problem would be in getting closed enough AND surviving to throw the charge in the shooting phase.

I must say my opinion of Chatchies has certainly improved.
