Sooo.. sign me up! And Hawiianzombie too, I will make him come! It has been way too long.

Maybe if I start writing a list now I will get it all painted in time...

Are we suppose to submit our army lists publicly here prior to the event?

Also I haven't had the chance to review the new Cron codex so do we stop people using them or do we make them submit their army list in full so we aren't surprised by any new tricks....

Seems a bit silly to me.

I would think you either accept FW models into the game or you don't. I don't think its right to clause certain models or units.

It seems to me we're cherry picking rules from across the GW pantheon, we've already discussed flyers so its seems perfectly acceptable to me to have FW models and units.

For me they add another dimension to the game. I personally won't be using any but I'm not going to begrudge anyone I face with any so long as they do so properly and fairly. See Dreadnought drops as discussion below.

I agree with previous post about declaring forge world units,

however most forgeworld units are broken in the wrong sense as in the rules are usually worse and cost lots of points!

this happened last year, there was a "heated" debate about it which ended in people being given warnings and getting banned for periods of time, not mentioning any names *cough* 'popsical' *cough* *cough*

so long as people bring all the rules for a unit it shouldnt take long for you to familarise yourself with the rules. although i think if someone is using a forgeworld list it would be common coutersty to let others know

This debate comes and goes every year, with the same arguement and result.
I'm not going down that oft trod road again, move on folks :-)

Two of the armies I played last year contained forgeworld kit: Greg's (I think) Orks, which were almost entirely forgeworld (best game I played all day, loads of fun) and Killing Time's eldar Warp Hunter, which scared the bejeezus out of me and had to be taken down at all costs.

The most whinging I've heard has been about Oink's Cheese Drill and Tarrin's Invisible Flying Shoot-You-Up-The-Arse Drones

I freely admit to getting quite heated last year about forgeworld, due to previous bad experiences against highly unbalanced units.

That said, I played against them last year and was happy enough, so I don't have a problem with them at all any more.
I even borrowed a Warp Hunter for the day and was blown away by how totally ineffective it was in three out of four games.

My only concern are flyers (actually, Tarrin's flyers to be precise), and I still believe the rules could use some balancing if they're going to be allowed in a tournament environment.
I appreciate the likelihood of meeting one is slim, but that won't make it any easier to take if you get shafted by one.

Anyway.
As Popsical said, this road had already been traveled. I'm certainly not going to call for a blanket ban.

The most whinging I've heard has been about Oink's Cheese Drill and Tarrin's Invisible Flying Shoot-You-Up-The-Arse Drones

Both by me.
The cheese drill is about as underwhelming as the Warp Hunter in reality.
However, everything about Tarrin is unfair and should be sanctioned with extreme prejudice.

Lol probably true about tarrin, those bloody tsons with invulnerable saves!

Greg was quite stunned by how poorly he finished with an almost pure FW list, but he still really enjoyed the games, and wouldn't mind another crack at Lor I think.

There will not be a pre-requisite for people to say what FW units they will be bringing. People can do if they want - and in some cases it might be particularly useful as a way of discussing some ambiguous rules.

I discussed the cheese drill with g00gle5 before finally deciding to bring it as there is a lot of ambiguity and potential mis-interpretation in the rules. So by discussing it we were able to come to a fair conclusion and I was able to explain the rules with confidence and consistency before games.

It is also a prime example of a unit that looks awesomely broken on paper, but in reality is pretty well balanced.

I think that is true of most FW units to be honest. As Premetheus points out, they are usually overcosted. There are a number of previously FW models that are now in codexes and cost far less!!!

If someone is bringing an entirely FW list then they are also not bound to tell anyone beforehand. Again, as above, they can tell us that they want to bring, say ... a dread mob or siege assault list. but just out of courtesy really and they will not have to reveal their list.

In short, the tournament provides "prior approval" for FW units and lists.

Remember that the tournament also allows people to seek approval for "non-official" codex rules. Such as 40KOnlines harlequin codex used by popsical a few years ago... but others might include say, a Kroot or exodite army list. If you want to use this then you MUST seek prior approval and you will be required to submit your army list and the codex rules so they can be assessed for fairness before being allowed to use them.

other than that though, you will need to prepare army lists to hand in on teh day. g00gle5 and I are discussing some other options for handling armies and lists from an organisation point of view but for now you won't have to worry about that.

Also, great to have you back Erriond!

It sounds like the voices of sense and reason are in charge and I hail them!

M4rt0k, saturday warm up games sounds like a good idea. considering I'll be coming from London it makes sense to travel the day before and make a weekend of it.

Book me in on a provisional basis.

Yoink!

I go away for a few days and the thread is full of "Tarrin is a nasty man" posts.  ;D

I do admit the Remora is a little silly. As a skimmer it would be lovely but a stealth field with flyer rules and 36" guns  and the specialised seeker missile rules it does makes it horrible if used right.  They are pretty expensive though and the models are just gorgeous.

I agree with Oink that the cheese drill is sick on paper but after playing it i consider it less worse than things like the doom and marbo.

Anyway you wont be seeing any of that silliness this year as it currently looks like i will have to pull out!

My summer teaching schedules have come in and combined with my Ex-wifes movements it means i will have to have my girls over that weekend. My folks are away so i can't sort babysitters either.  Sadly the only free weekend i have is the one before (12th) :-(

I will try to see if i can sort this out but at the moment it looks like i am a No!

If i can't i am sure i will monitor the obvious high levels of sulliment for afar.

However, everything about Tarrin is unfair and should be sanctioned with extreme prejudice.

The Globals have issued a 2:1 ruling that yes, yes everything about Tarrin is indeed unfair. We have also been sullied merely by contemplating this.

Would be a real shame if you can't make it.

Don't the historical records state that there are always two - the Sully Lord and its Apprentice? If Tarrin is unable to perform arrive at the event who shall be his Apprentice?
