New to Harlequins, some questions...
« on: September 3, 2002, 06:48:19 AM »
Hi everyone, i just recently downloaded the harlequin codex, & i have fallen in love with them!!! There simply spectacular, i think they would suite my style of play fantasticly. Anyway more to the point, i read through the codex, & the update, im a little confused.

Is there a difference between mimes & harlequins?

It is my understanding that you are allowed to have units of harlequins in an eldar army. This is true, correct? (Pg 5 of harlequin codex)

What is a shadow field? Am i missing pages or something?

Thanks any help would be appreciated.

You can have harles in a eldar army for an elites choice so you can use anything out of the codex as an elites. The mimes are just another troops choice for harles. They are actually harlequins.
The shadowfield is a piece of wargear for dark eldar that gives you a 2+ invunerable save until you fail it once.
Hope this info helps. ;D

Welcome to the Path of the Harlequin! :D
Like Ranger Matty said the Shadow Feild is actually a Dark Eldar thing. Mimes are troop choices that can infiltrate and have less options, and yess you can include one choices from the Harlequin codex in an Eldar army as an elite choice.

My name says C'tan, but I'm all Harlie on the inside. ;D

Just one more thing...Harlies can choose from dark eldar wargear to? How about eldar?

Another thing, in close combat what does it mean by are counted as having the advantages of a defended obstacle?

Thanks

Ummm.... No.  Harlequins can choose from Harlequin Wargear.
They don't have access to Dark Eldar or Eldar gear...
At least not according to the experimental codex rules.

They have some gear in common with DE & cw due to their nature, but don't get their Wargear options.

the defended by an obstacle refers to the fact that your opponents must treat you like you're in cover when they're charging. So you strike first unless they have grenades, which can be used on you. This makes frag grenaded units really scary. And plasma-grenade people funny. (ha! Now your cover is nulled and we strike in initiative order. Quin: OK.)
