Wave Serpent turret help
« on: July 11, 2011, 11:33:39 AM »
Ok so don't laugh but I've managed to lose the turret to one of my wave serpents.

So, how do I make a new one? I have an excess of weapons so thats not the issue and I have a big enough bitz box to make it look Ok but I'm concerned about the fitting to the top of the tank.

any ideas....

maybe take a look at the FW turrets, I think they are easier to replicate.

Cool, I click the link and I get a Phantom Titans Pulsar arm! How cool wouldf that be for a Wave serpent turret weapon  8)

It's notreally the style of the turret I'm worried about Its How I'm going to get it to stick on and revolve on the tank itself. I emean I've lost the cupola part that fits snuggly.

Ps I'm crap at Green stuffing anything more than filling a hole.....

Back in 2004 I built a wave serpent turret out of a plastic spoon. (Seriously.) No need for greenstuffing--just a dremel and some hobby skill.

The trick to getting it to rotate without wobbling is to cut a circle out of a thick styrene (or laminating multple thin pieces together) roughly the same size as the circle on the underside of the falcon turret. Then drill a hole in the center and use a plastic or brass rod to pin it to the upper part of the body (through the hole in the center of the circle on top).

;D Ever heard of scrolling down?

BTW I have seen this plastic-spoon-turrets those are really looking good. If I would have to make a quick and good turret for the Serpent I would recommend them.
Look for yourself, the turret is at the lower edge of the picture:

The whole site is interesting with lots of great models:

There is quite a large number of bits sellers on ebay. I am sure you will be able to find a new turret there. I believe Hoard of Bits is one of the major sellers. At least that's where I get most of my stuff nowadays. 8)

@Unlimited, I do remember your spoon turret and it still looks cool!

@mergel, yes I know how to scroll down  ::)

@Tyranothrone, hmm I hadn't thought of that. But to be honest I'd much prefer fabricating something myself.

Update: I've found the top piece to a different turret so I'm going to work from there downwards. I'm going to magnetise the turret so I wont have to worry about the pin fitting. so all I need now is a randon piece of plastic to act as the base and as this will be covered it doesn't really matter what it looks like.

Many thanks for all the help guys...

Now, do I magnetise the weapons?
