Games Workshop in Pop Culture
« on: December 1, 2015, 11:14:33 AM »
It's rare, but I have seen it happen!
Well, I've seen it happen twice.. Both times on British TV.

The first was on Peep Show (brilliant show) and has Mark mention something about cancelling a subscription out of shame "Like my subscription to White Dwarf".
The second was on Phone Shop (pretty meh show) and involves the guys becoming the laughing stock of the high street and has a line like "Even Games Workshop is laughing at us!"

This is the only times I've seen GW referenced on TV, and I don't think I've ever seen it in film.
How about you guys? Noticed any other references?

The first episode of the 2009 series of Lewis, 'An Allegory of Love' featured a teenager who liked painting Lord of the Rings figures from the GW range.  Warhammer is also mentioned by DS Hathaway during the episode if my memory serves me correctly.

Can't say I've ever heard of that one!

The whole episode is basically about Tolkien, so if you like detective dramas, Games Workshop, and Lord of the Rings, it's a must see :).

I remember a stand up comedian making a joke about GW's business decisions years ago, with board meetings being played out like a game of D&D.  It was...lame.  :P

That seems like a very niche area to cover!
