Hey guys,
I'm brain storming ideas for my next 40K army, and I'm seriously considering doing a Nurgle themed CSM army, partly because I want to really labour over the conversions and build a really decent army and then really strive to make a decent go at the paint job...there's only one problem...for my current Witch Hunters army, I wanted to give it a very regal colour scheme, so I decided on green armour, with lots of cream trim, gold & silver weapons and some use of purple and red on various detailing.
So I don't really want to go for green, so does anyone have any suggestions of different nurgle colour schemes? If you could post some pics to inspire me I'd really appreciate it.
At the moment I'm thinking I could possibly do a very light green/chalky stone/bone colour scheme...but I thought I'd just throw my idea out there and see what people thought.

How about a pinkish red scheme, like exposed flesh? It might look a bit creepier than green but would certainly give you Nurgly feelings :P.

Maybe, but if I did that for the armour, what would I actually do for the fleshy bits?
Could browns and yellows work? or would it look like a Simpsons army?

You could go with brownish/yellow that'd be parched skin or something like that.

I just changed my post to browny yellow as an afert thought. I like that idea...may end up giving that a whirl....

Could try armor that looks like rotting flesh, and flesh that looks pale and ill.

Or greyish and plague ridden, no need to go with the standard slimy skin.

while my own nurgle are very green+brown, I do personally like the look of pre-heresy death guard marines. They are a bit white, with some green, yes, but you may like the color scheme

although the daemon prince here looks more like my color scheme except a bit lighter, but the rest is more or less the first/pre-heresy death guard color scheme

I went for an aquatic style so mine are Grey/Blue armour, Rusty Trim, Bone (for the boney bits) and other details picked out in Purple. I've since changed my newer models to bone trim instead.

Crappy pic, but hopefully you get the idea.

Badass pic there enlargingcloud. Anyways prehaps go for a black clad grim reaper vibe? Or put them in bright yeloow and black to get across the ridden with toxin motif?
-
I would also recomend the pre heresy death guard scheme. You could use a brown or green trim.
A similar scheme but a more dustygrey, diseased kind of armour might work. You could try a adeptus grey basecoat then thraka green and orgyn flesh wash, it looks pretty cool.

Nurgle is the Lord of Decay. Which may mean rust. Not Khorne red rust but all varieties. More brown and yellow that red. Imagine some Autumn leaves and use that colour scheme to represent decay. It doesn't have to be all about greens as others have said. :)

I went with a brown angle I like it cause wasn't too fond of the green nurgle marines

I worked as a nurse, specifically aged care, for two years. The WORST thing i have ever seen is a Necrotic wound. I don't really recommend looking them up, but they are Black, Wet, and smell just like you'd expect. Saddest thing is they can be easily prevented. This one killed the poor lady..
So, gross wet black would fit right in.

well I looked them up nice makes my wife's staff infection wound look like a skin rash
but Ends_mouth is right start looking a pics not these since they are rather disturbing but could get some good color Ideas from this route

I based mine on them but added a bit tanner color for starting...lots of rust instead of slime...

Definately agree the lighter beige/brown/tan is a very good look. Earthtones seem to work well. I have not painted mine yet but would definately agree that this is a good color combo... much praise.
